Some a-hole stole the car stereo last night. And the ipod. AND a pair off knock-off sunglasses. weaksauce. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!
And I had just made the playlist of the century.
Grrr!
I'm gonna miss listening to beats in traffic. And since it's Christmas time and I'm broker than usual it's gonna be a minute before we can re-up on equipment.
Who:Acid Girls, UFO, Sleazemore & Zazueta. What: drinking/dancing/fucking/etc. When: Tonight. Where:Club 222. Why: Because we like you. How: Any fucking way you can.
It's going down tonight @ Lights Down Low!! I recommend early arrival because the 222 gets packed. Reserve your spot on the dance floor it's gonna be ragin'!
There's so much good music out right now, Tonight will be nothing but straight bangers. I love Sleazemore's sets and I'm really excited to see what Acid Girls have in store for SF. I'm hoping someone spins that new Simian Mobile Disco track 'Hotdog'. That's the jam right now.
'Cryptic & Dire Sallow Faced Hoods Blast Off Into Oblivian' although a mouthful & hard to request a song off of after a couple of drinks was one of my favorite albums of 2005. After hearing 'I Know Your Face' & 'The Visitor' Crossover quickly became musical crack to me.
All the songs vary in styles and it really is hard to classify the album as anything but 'good'. C&DSFHBOIO was the duo's follow up to their 2001 Fantasmo. 5 years is a long time to wait for an album, but this was well worth it. One of the best artists on International Deejay Gigolo Records, IMHO.
Over in the UK store owners have employed a new technique to get rid of loitering youngsters called 'Mosquito Teen Repelent'. It's a device that emits a high pitched noise that most people over the age of 25 can't here. Supposedly it works exceptionally well.
My question is why the hell would shop owners want to repel UK's new punk-funk-pop-thrash band 'The Teenagers'? Must be miffed that they didn't make it into their top 8.
This band is definitely one to watch in 2007. Aside from their own kick ass songs, they aren't to bad at remixing other bands work either. So far they've taken on The Black Ghosts' 'Face', Scanners' – 'Lowlife' & Lo-Fi-Fnk's 'City'.
Last summer the young cats in 'The Pack' probably made themselves a pretty penny off their Vans song. They definitely got notice from some major players in the game. Shortly after the single release Bay Area rapper Too Short become their manager.
The company Vans said that their shoe sales boosted dramatically once the song was in major rotation on radio airwaves. Neither Vans nor The Pack is saying how much of a monetary thank you these boys got from Vans, but I'm sure it was more than just a few pair of Top Siders.
I think I'm gonna write a song about L.A. Gears. Maybe they'll lace me with a free pair of Lights.
Alright, alright, I'm done messing with the layout for now. It ain't looking half bad if I do say so myself. Anyways, on with the normal stuff. Last Saturday was the last Victim party of the year.
Thanks to everyone who came out, it was mad fun. The pics will be up on the Victim page once I quit being lazy. Does anyone know who those two kids are who got straight hyphy when Justice came on? I need to kick it with those kids more.
(told you I found my shirt new young pony club shirt)
Hope to see you all in January. I think we'll be having some special guest dj's from SF that night. I'll post the flyer here as soon as I finish it.
Oh, this Wednesday is Evil Heat at Arrow Bar in Sf. Resident dj Massarri wil be tearing it up along side VICTIM dj Basura. Peep it out if you like your dive bars dark, dirty & overflowing with beats.
Speaking of Justice, a new track leaked from our favorite french duo. No one has a complete track yet, just a partial, but it's still good to know what's coming down the disco pipeline.
HTML is totally standing in the way of my control of this website. Tables not lining up, not loading properly in IE, mangled style sheets… I'm seriously about to get into a fist fight with my computer. If HTML was here right now I'd kick him in the hyper nuts.
Anyways, I get closer & closer to being done re-vamping the site. Here's three versions of The Gossip's 'Standing In The Way Of Control'. Get on it.
I'm redoing the site design because a number of people had a problem with the old one. So, here's my attempt at a better looking version. I'm still fine tuning & whatnot & trying to get it to work on both IE & Firefox (fuck netscape). After I fix everything I'll start updating with music again.
'Kavinsky is a zombie in need of revenge, killed when he crashed his Ferrari Testarossa in 1986. His records are the story of his first steps in the world of the living dead.'
Or, so the story goes. For being a dead kid, Kavinsky is a pretty snazzy dresser. I bet those vintage high top Nike's he's rocking go for at least a benjamin on the eBay. He's produced some pretty sick beats & keeps pretty good company. Ed Banger's Sebastian did a remix of Kavinsky's 'Testarossa Autodrive' which is pretty ace. Pick it up if you can find it.
Kid Alex (a.k.a. Alexander Ridha and Boys Noize) the electro-tech prodigy has been dropping bombs on fools with his hard hitting tracks since he was signed to Gigolo Records by Dj Hell himself back in 2003.
Under the moniker Boys Noize he's remixed the likes of Bloc Party, The Kreeps, Tiga & he produced a mind bending remix of the Kaiser Chiefs' 'Everyday I Love You less and Less'. Go cop that KC remix if you can find it.
Download these tracks off his 2006 Restless release and just try not to do the chair dance.
