Ed Banger Records Tour + Vitalic & Linda Lamb - Bells

Annnnnd. we’re back. Sorry if you saw the site looking ugly last night. Me & Blogger got into a fight. This design doesn’t look the way I really want. But it’ll do for now.

ANYWAYS.

My tickets to the Ed Banger Records tour arrived in the mail today. On March 24th I will be enjoying hard liquor with a side of hard hitting beats provided by Justice, SebastiAn, DJ Mehdi & Busy P @ Mezzanine. A lot of great artists have graced the Mezz as of late. Ladytron, The Presets, She Wants Revenge, MSTRKFRT, & The Lovemakers are a few acts I’ve seen there recently.

But the best live performance I’ve seen there would have to be Parisian hard techer Pascal Arbez, a.k.a. Vitalic. He performed all of his classic bangers off of OK Cowboy plus a few never before heard tracks. The only bad part was they had him so high up on the stage that you could barely see his bald little head bouncing around up there & I really wanted to see what equipment he had that made those crazy sounds. Maybe next time around.

This is a sort of newish track featuring Linda Lamb:

Vitalic is on Different Recordings & the Bells 12″ is available here. Linda Lamb is on International Deejay Gigolo Records & pretty much any IDGR compilation you pick up, she’s had a hand in the production.

Things might looked messed up here for a minute as Blogger doesn’t want to let me switch to the new widget system yet.

HATERS!

Gimme like an hour.
Sorry!

New Wave Tuesday: It’s New Wave, Dave.

They say that ‘If you don’t know where you came from, you’ll never get to where you’re going’. But if you don’t know where you’re going you’ll probably end up in the bad part of town & get your Italian leather boots stolen. What does it all mean?

b52s New Wave Tuesday: Its New Wave, Dave.

I means it’s New Wave Tuesday. And I know, why New Wave Tuesday & not New Wave Tuesday or Thursday? There are no days that start with an ‘N’ so it doesn’t matter which day it’s on. Right? RIGHT.

Here’s some of my favorite gems from under the dance floor:

Gary Numan - Me! I disconnect from you
Bollock Brothers - Harley David, Son of A Bitch (Recommended)
B52’s - Legal Tender
Tuxedomoon - What Use?
Units - Digital Stimulation
Boy Don’t Cry - I wanna Be A Cowboy
Pulsallama - Devil Lives in My Husbands Body (Recommended)

Ectomorph did a remix of the Tuxedomoon track on an a 12″ released by International Deejay Gigolo Records. Chicks on Speed did a cover of the B-52’s “Gimme back My Man’ & Tiga has covered a few new wave classics such as ‘Sunglasses at Night’ & ‘Burning Down The house’.

I think all of these tracks would be good for covers & or lend well to remixing. All you bedroom producers out there fire up your Ableton & get to work.

I want some Mp3s on my desk by Friday!

I got my Pulsallama 7″ for six dollars off ebizzle. Most of these other tracks can be found there or if not, hit up Gemm.

Crystal Castles vs Little Ones - Lovers Who Uncover

crystal-castles Crystal Castles vs Little Ones - Lovers Who Uncover

Alice & Ethin are at it again! They posted a myspace bulletin last night alerting everyone to their latest glitched up dancey remix. Last month is was The Goodbooks, this month it’s Los Angeles based indie rockers The Little Ones.

MP3:  Crystal Castles vs The Little Ones - Lovers Who Uncover

The Little Ones are signed to Astralwerks & will be performing at SXSW this March.

Crystal Castles are on Merok & will be playing with Klaxons on their SOLD OUT UK tour next month.

(Thanks to the Pfork for posting.)

Club: Lights Down Low Photog: Ryan Prouty

Friday I had the pleasure of seeing Guns N Bombs perform at Lights Down Low. I talked to Johnny & Filip a bit and enjoyed their awesome set. I recorded a bootleg of the set but the bass proved to be intense for my shitty mic. I did however get an okay sounding video clip of GNB performing ‘Nothing is Getting Us Anywhere. The clip is a tad dark, but what do you expect the club is called ‘Lights Down Low’.

As an added bonus I also met Julian S Process of Pink Skull who are responsible for a for a number of amazing remixes out there right now, including the SpankRock ‘Bump’ remix I posted in December. Julian djayed that night also & not only does he have superb musical taste & djaying ability but he is an awesome person as well.

If you slept on Pink Skull’s remix of Spankrock’s ‘Bump’ here it is again. Get it!

MP3: SpankRock - Bump (Pink Skull remix)

Be sure to visit Pink Skull’s myspace for some new tracks to stream. And add them while you’re there.

I’d also like to thank The Rich Girls Are Weeping, Disco Dust, Partyends & goagrejor for the linking Missingtoof last week. Visit their blogs as they always have fresh new music for that ass. If any of you others link us, let us know & because sometimes we don’t always catch them right off the bat. Thanks!

AND we’ve received A LOT of emails this past couple of weeks from artists & djs which we want to post but we’re in the middle of revamping the site. We’re switching over to the new Blogger system & making some minor tweaks to the design. Hopefully it will be easier on the eyes & easier to navigate the site.

mtreupthumb Weekend Warrior.

The only problem is Bloggers new system uses strict validation before it will even let you upload a new design. Can’t even have any unclosed breaks. Customizing bloggers new widget system is also a bitch. But hopefully I’ll be all done with that by midweek & can get back to posting music.

Fingers crossed.

MAD REPEATERZ: Para One - Midnight Swim (Surkin Drowning mix)

This is the first installment of ‘Mad Repeaterz’. It’s where we post tracks that for the life of us we just can not take out of the winamp playlist.

Alors-les-filles MAD REPEATERZ: Para One - Midnight Swim (Surkin Drowning mix)

Paris labels Institubes & Ed Banger released a CD mixed by Orgasmic titled ‘Alors Les Filles On Fete Noel’. The track lists boasts artists from both labels which is pretty much the cream of the electro/techno crop.

Tracklist:

  1. Das Glow - Vulcanice
  2. SebastiAn - Walkman
  3. Para One - Midnight Swim (Surkin Remix)
  4. Bobmo - Home Alone
  5. Orgasmic - Stade De France

  7. Midnight Juggernauts - Tombstone
  8. Justice - Phantom
  9. DJ Mehdi - Pony Rocking
  10. Krazy Baldhead - Crazy Motherfuckers (Midfield General Remix)

All of the songs are straight heaters, but of course everyone always has their favorite step child. This track is ours.

Alors Les Filles On Fete Noel was available on Arcade Mode, but looks like they all got swooped on. Until they re-up you can grab Orgasmic’s other hit filled mixed cd entitled ‘The Rise & Rise of Orgasmic’ here.

Para One’s new CD ‘Epiphanie’ available here.

Surkin’s amazing ‘Radio Fireworks’ 12 inch available here.

Mini news update. Good friend of mine Patch from Thrudheim Radio is now an official Missing Toof correspondent. He resides in Australia & will be covering Big Day Out (peep the line up!)& keep us all posted on the awesome bands that are pouring out of the outback right now.

So if you see ‘color’ spelled with a ‘u’ & ’specialize’ spelled with an ’s’ most likely you are reading a Patch post.

Also Gun’s N Bombs put up the little article we wrote about them last week on their Myspace blog! That got us excited.

Keeping you Alive.

the gossip Keeping you Alive.

Yes, I am wearing the same thing I wore to work yesterday. Yes, I’m a little hung over. And yes, The Gossip cd is a year old today & i’m still posting tracks from it.

Whatcha gonna do?

The Gossip’s music is so good & strangely uplifting. Almost makes me forget this hang over. Almost. Coffee, stale break room doughnuts & this song are the only thing Keeping me alive right now.

MP3:  The Gossip - Keeping You Alive

Posted this Soulwax remix before, get it you don’t got it:

Justin Timberlake Vs Uffie.

justin-timberlake-vs-uffie Justin Timberlake Vs Uffie.

This track was sent to me a few weeks ago by John from La Greve Generale. Just now getting around to posting it. Justin Timberlake and Uffie together at last. Seems like a match made in aural heaven. He’s bringing sexy back & she’s ready to fuck. When’s the wedding?

On a side note, If Uffie weren’t with Feadz you guys think Justin would have a fighting chance? & if they did get together what creative mash up of a moniker would tabloids use for them, ‘Juffie’ or ‘Uffstin’?

“My Love’ vs ‘Hot Chick’ = My Chick.

MP3: Justin Timberlake vs Uffie - My Chick (JWS)

Visit La Greve Generale’s Myspace for a bangin’ hour long disco/indie mix he did in which he uses this mash up. Word.

Plastic Little - Hi Bitches (King Honey’s Come New remix)

plastic-little Plastic Little - Hi Bitches (King Honeys Come New remix)

Party rap? I don’t know if that term is politically correct or that it would be appreciated by Plastic Little. But when you listen to them you are reminded of a bunch of dudes that like to do just that, party. And rap. I think the ‘Party Rap’ term was first used for Def Jux’s aptly named Party Fun Action Committee. Listen to P.F.A.C.’s ‘Beer’ here & in the first 2 seconds you can tell that it’s a joke.

Plastic little is not. Serious rappers rapping about funny things perhaps? For P Lil’s official debut release they enlisted some pretty big names to guest spot including SpankRock, Amanda Blank & Ghostface himself on the ‘Crambrodia’ track. Check the Hype Machine for what other bloggers posted about Plastic Little.

To me ‘Hi Bitches’ is freshest song on the album. You should immediately recognize the sample King Honey used as the italo disco classic ‘I’m ready’ by Kano. Download them both below.

MP3:  Plastic Little - Hi Bitches (King Honeys Come New remix)

MP3:  Kano - I’m Ready

You can pick up a copy of Plastic Little’s ‘Shes Mature’ from Turn Table Lab.

Kano’s ‘I’m Ready 12 inch is going for $125.40 on gemm! Or you can venture over to ebay & get the same record for $5.99.

Speaking of parties, it’s Saturday night.
Go find some.
