On The Corner Music, a small record store is San Jose’s newest gem. The shop is run by Jeff Jagged & DJ Fuschia who were the duo responsible for the LOOSE electroclash parties back in 2003. Jeff is also in The Entertainment Committee & a major player at Dig Dug, San Jose’s monthly record swap.
The shop is stuffed to the gills with vinyl; indie, electro, italo disco, post punk, new wave & hip hop. New & used. On my visit I found some really rare items such as out of print early ADULT., early DFA 12 inches & even white label test pressings. Jeff was kind enough to hold George Kranz’s ‘Din Daa Daa’ (which most of you will recognize as the sample used in the Ying Yang Twins’ ‘Shake’) for me until payday. They also have a pretty extensive cd selection with all your indie faves and electro compilations.
If you can’t make it down to the shop they are slanging vinyl on the ebay as well. click here to see the listings.
And unlike those bigger record stores, they have turntable & headphones stations so you can preview your music before you buy. Somethign else that I liked, there’s a children records/sound effects section, it’s a sampling goldmine. Don’t just be a music lover, be a music producer.
Feed you vinyl addiction. Visit them now, visit them often.
