UK is one big rave: The Neon Plastix

2007 04 18 Neon Plastix UK is one big rave: The Neon Plastix

The phrase, “the next big thing” gets thrown around a lot, and I might do more than my fair share of throwing. But wait! Really! The Neon Plastix just might be the next big thing in UK (Doncaster) indie/dance music. Their new songs keep pace right along with the Klaxons and they dish out that day-glo-y new rave sound. But, at moments they remind me more of L.A. dance-rockers Moving Units. No matter how I try to pigeon-hole it, I love it.

I can’t stop listening. Enjoy the new ones:

Here’s a new remix The Neon Plastix did (their first one) for Late of the Pier:

  • Any fashion tips for these clueless UK rockstars? Hah.
  • Micha : those who fear tomorro
Man, their music's not too bad, but damn, whats up with the majority english band generally looking like turd!?
    it's becoming embarrassing.
  • The Moving Units do shows every now and again in their native L.A., I know that much. The last one I know about was 2 or so months ago at a small venue and it sold out real quick. eBay scalping went like 300% of retail. They get much love as a local band.

Blake Miller, the lead singer and half of Weird Science is very active as a DJ in the Hollywood/L.A. scene. I see him around Hollywood constantly and he's on the bill for tomorrow's Klaxons L.A. tour date (along with steve aoki, guns 'n' bombs, jason stewart/them jeans, young americans and royal rumble)

His Weird Science partner, Steve Aoki is the ownder of Dim Mak records, which released the Klaxons singles and EPs in the US.
  • Dave
I def's agree with your comparison to Moving Units! Nice! Whatever happened there? I know one guy's in Weird Science now...
  • Yo Luxxury!

Thanks for the correction! I grabbed that Sheffield info off the web from another writer. They started the rumor and I propagated it! But, It's fixed now.

If you're ever in L.A./Hollywood, I'll see what I can do for you and/or the Neon Plastix.
  • These kids are from Doncaster, actually, not Sheffield. We played a gig with them in the UK a few months ago and are trying to set up a US tour with them later this year: The Luxxury + Neon Plastix = BFF Tour '07!
