I met Tycho back in 2002 when I was more of an ‘IDM’/electronic dj. His music is as lush and as head noddy as it gets. Think Boards of Canada and Four Tet, and you kinda get the picture. This limited edition colored vinyl, which is a sampler of his album of the same name, is out on Merck records, a label he and I both loved and respected then, and now look, they’re releasing his shit!
The opening track, ‘From Home’ is my pick of the bunch. It starts with a synthy build up that makes me feel like I’m floating in the air being smothered with soft fluffy clouds, then a steady hip hop beat connects everything together, and you end out feeling like everything in the world is all right. I need to start smoking the buds again.
