Beirut, the producer/arranger from Los Angeles (not the popular indie band which shares the name, and came later), just dropped a freebie remix album, ‘The Remixes Vol. 2′, that consists of mostly hip-hop and a few R&B remix tracks. Shit is on in my deck on repeat.
MP3: Clipse - Wamp Wamp (feat. Slim Thug) (Beirut Remix)
MP3: The Notorious B.I.G. - Young G’s (Beirut Remix)
MP3: Young Buck - 3 Kings (feat. T.I. & Young Jeezy) (Beirut Remix)
Dig those and you can snag the whole 18 track album for free right here (It’s a 141 meg file hosted on Megaupload; So here’s the drill, go to the download page then, (1) enter the 3-digits, (2) wait 45 seconds, (3) click the “Free download” button). The album features tracks with Lil’ Wayne, E-40, Raekwon, Nas, Ludacris, Mobb Deep, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson, and grip more.
If you love what you hear, download the ‘Volume 1′ collection with 180 meg’s of remixes from Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Rakim, Ras Kass, O.C. and more from Megaupload, right here. Below are a few choice cuts from Vol. 1. I played these out hard, and think they compete well with the originals:
MP3: Jay-Z - 99 Problems (Beirut Remix)
MP3: Amel Larrieux - Sweet Misery (Beirut Remix)
MP3: M.O.P. - G Building (Beirut Remix)
I started DJing and crate-digging with this dude about 10 years ago. He got a used EPS-16+ around then and built up the production credentials from there. Holler at ‘em if you’re feeling it. He’s got a MySpace with some original production, no doubt.

Am I the only one that can’t hear any songs?! I get a file error code on all the songs.
Daymmmmm. Jay-Z and Clipse are my top hiphop artists.
and @melissa,
I don’t get any error :\ sorry
“that came later”, just had to toss that in.
For the record, Beirut is glorious.
@ electBlake:
I have every reason to believe it’s true. It’s where he’s from (Beirut, Lebanon) and been doing rapping/DJing shows in LA for a long time—on the radar but off label.
Then I heard of that other producer who is also great, called ‘bay root’ came along, and finally, the indie band. All three are good stuff. I think they can co-exist, I was just throwing that fact out there.
@ melissa:
You shouldn’t have any errors, and if you do I don’t know what the problem might be. Try checking your browser and flash versions assure that they are the newest versions, also check your security settings are at a medium level or lower.
If you can’t stream the music with the flash player, you may always download (or stream) the songs by clicking on the link to the right of, “MP3:”. The text in the link displays the song title. This should work consistently, as any other MP3 download would.
Well, the indie Beirut is much better.
@Indie, for the most part I would agree, but that Notorious BIG remix is killer
