London’s Sohodolls are hot like fire! They’ve been on UK scene for a few years, but now they’re ready to go big and make an impression on the world with their upcoming debut album, ‘Ribbed Music for the Numb Generation’. The album will be released this September 10th, imprinted on Filthy Pretty Records, with production and mix-down by Robert Harder (producer of Whitey, Babyshambles and Ali Love, among others) and Steve Lyon (co-producer for Depeche Mode and The Cure, among others).

The fox with the tape-y nipple that you see above is Maya von Doll—writer and singer of Sohodolls. The tracks below span from 2005 to now, but some of the best songs are a slow burn before the inferno! I’m the kind of simp that falls in love with strippers, so the Sohodolls single, ‘Stripper’ is my jammy.

Icing on the cake would be a Crystal Castles remix. And fancy that, there is one! ‘Trash the Rental’ just got trashier.

    oh my god..
    very good blog!!
    very thank you
  • @bumpsdick -

great popsynth imo: cut copy, the presets, the rapture..
  • @bumpsdick:

don´t mind the other entries. SD are a great band, i´m waiting for their album since nearly two years. good liveband as well. CC remix is rather boring but there are a few other old remixes of them as well if you´re interested.

but i agree with some of the criticism, "stripper" is a bit cheap and "my vampire" isn´t their best track as well. but how anybody can dislike "trash the rental" or 1724 or "pleasures of soho" doesn´t go into my head!

keep up the good work and
    cheers from berlin

  • Everybody that's hating on Sohodolls, do y'all like any synthpop at all?

If this is bad, what do you think is great?
  • Sup baby? Obviously the half naked chick caught my eye, but listened to the band, pretty weak, but I fguess Crystal Castles can always fix that.
  • What can I say, its trashy, I like!! x
  • like everyone else - don't care for the band.. at least they're pretty.

CC manages to make gold from shit with this remix.
  • Tom
    Wow I love this band.
  • Clifford Lidell

jajaja this is gettin excited... and yeah this crystal castle mix its over the top of sohodolls songss..! im lovin this remix, tks again, and keep posting bout cc, Thank you.
  • @ Death From Above:

Yea. The vocal sample is very subtle and it's "remix" status could be questionable, considering it doesn't "feel" like the originaleven slightly.

I'm gonna post a remix of a CC track that I thought the same thing about really soon.
  • Death From Above
This sounds like an original Crystal Castles song to me. It sounds nothing like the Soho Dolls track. Very funny how they get paid to remix bands and then simply send the band an original Crystal Castles song.
  • Giovanni
