1/2ALIVE

halfalive 1/2ALIVE

A few months back Diplo posed an excellent question on the Mad Decent blog; 'Why is Canada running game'? Who knows?! But we're not mad at our brothers & sisters to the north. 1/2ALIVE is just one of the many crews proving that Canada is not just America's hat.

1/2Alive is composed of Tyler Fedchuk, My!Gay!Husband! & Tony X this crew wrecks shop on Van City every Friday night with their infamous night. Aside from bringing out big names in the game like Thunderheist, Krames & Digitalism to name a few, the boy can for user hold their own with their unique blends, edits & mashes. Peep game.

  • As a 1/2 alive goer, let me tell you, they are no joke.
  • as another half alive goer, i can second that notion.

"Canada is not just America’s hat"

    You = ignorant

  • 1/2 Alive goer here so here's a European point of view: pretty decent night indeed but doors close too early (as everywhere else in Vancouver). Still, it's indeed the best blend in town! Busy week here: Fool's Gold on Thursday, 1/2 Alive on Friday and Digitalism on Sunday! go get your dancing shoes you sleepy vancouverites! :^p

Tell Tyler Fedchuk there is more needed in a remix than handclaps and chopped riffs and lyrics. Not impressed.
  • Hey Zombie_bomb... is this you:
    http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/User:Zombi...

    Just curious.

While that may be true for a remix, what Tyler is doing (so I'm told) is considered to be more of a re-edit:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Re-edit

Up until recently, I didn't know the difference either...

Also, what do you mean by "there is more needed"? For what exactly?

It is likely that you are not a fan of bmore (which is often kept simple on purpose):
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Club

Tyler plays an extremely large variety of music and I'd say his bmore re-edits are a very small sample of his many musical styles. I've noticed that a unique form of electronic eclecticism has taken root in Vancouver and makes this place creative and exciting. There is an enormous amount of talent here chasing a relatively small population of fans... however, that group of fans are VERY loyal and energetic!

Check out Radiozero podcasts... you'll quickly see what I'm trying to say:

    cheers,
    Leigh
  • I was positive I did more than add some handclaps and chopped riffs, but then who am I to argue with a seasoned pro like zombie_bomb.
