Thieves Like Us - ‘Drugs in My Body’ remixes from Electroluxe Family’s Jim Starck, Sir Graves, Clique Talk & Popes on Dope

Now Kitsune and Thieves Like Us are just wrapping up their ‘Drugs In My Body’ remix contest advertised here (actually, the contest ends today, so hurry up if it’s news to you!). Every bedroom producer and their second-cousin has a remix or a remix-in-progress, and now they’re coming out of the woodwork!

Thieves Like Us hail from Sweden and the US, met in Berlin and now reside in Manhattan. They make sweet indie-pop and sprinkle it with references to stuff like drugs that give it another layer of flavor—one that might make you see double.

We’ve been championing France’s Electroluxe Family this month, since that just perfect Kris Kross remix we put up last week, and now Jim Stark of the Electroluxe Fam. threw this remix at us to whet our appetite for his upcoming ‘Gunman’ EP.

Removed at request of artist and label.

Another super hot club version comes courtesy of L.A.’s own Sir Graves. L.A.’s finest Mike B of Mike B vs. Dickie G hipped me to this and he certifies it gets dance floors moving. Dude would know, trust.

Those remixes are apples and the following are oranges. Where those are for the club, these are for moody brooding on the mellow tip. One remix from Clique Talk (who BiBaBiDi turned us on to) and another from Popes on Dope (a.k.a. the guys behind Certified Banger and Eclectic Hermit)

Lastly, the B-side to the original 2006 release of ‘Drugs in My Body’ is ‘Fass’. Absolute feel good music:

I love how late i am with this. Going to the studio tonight to finish up, hopefully they’ll love my latentrycore vibe.

    @ ricorb:

I know you’re not the only one! Good luck!

i’ve now gone through 5 different versions. maybe attempting a first remix for a contest isn’t the best idea… eek.

Hmm…thought i’d just posted a comment, I’ll do it again!

Thanks for posting our track up. It’s our first collective remix. The hermit hasn’t attempted a remix ever and the only ones ive ever done are hip hop ones that have never seen the light of day. It’s pretty scary airing something like this but it was pretty fun making it.

No studio for us…just a laptop!

Still a bigger fan of “Fass”.

Decent remixes and definitely more dancefloor friendly than the original though. However, is this st-st-st-stuttering sample trend going to end anytime soon. I think that is what killed Freestyle, ain’t it?

we’ll you’ve all now been chucked out of the contest, kitsune tells you not to post any of the remixes on myspace, websites or blogs or you will been taken off the list, so sorry to say it but all of the remixes you’ve posted wont now be able to win.

    @ brett:

Devil is in the details… I’m sure it doesn’t matter too much. The winner is only promised to have their single released digitally anyway–which only ends up on the blogs anyway.

This just cuts out the middleman. ;p
