I pinpoint electro starting in the US with Afrika Bambaataa sampling German group Kraftwerk, on ‘Planet Rock’.
The French and other nations have done much to further the genre (and perhaps morph it), but to credit its current sound to any one nation is just, well, stupid.
With the internet, the world is once again flat.
