Lend your ears to Little Boots, of Blackpool, London, who’s one solitary track is very impressive and, dare I say, an early contender for song of the year? The must have song right now? We think so! The song is ‘Stuck on Repeat’, produced by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, with vocals by one Victoria Hesketh, or Little Boots, formerly one-third of hip electro-pop indie rockers Dead Disco:
MP3: Little Boots - Stuck on Repeat
Little Boots reached out to us at the same time our friends at Big Stereo blogged the original mix, that’s been receiving gushing responses. But, Missingtoof, we held back, because the files that reached us were an unacceptable 96kbps, but now—no less than one dozen emails & forwarded contacts later—we are happy to have Little Boots, as it should be heard, in glorious 320kpbs audio. If you downloaded it before somewhere else, download it again. 96kbps is a scourge on blogtown.
Here’s another Dub mix that’s similar to the original, but just different enough for y’all to notice. Take yr pick:

The Little Boots project may prompt questions about the state of Dead Disco. Are they no more? Are they disbanded? It’s hard to say, after Little Boots departure and a departure from 679 Recordings, Dead Disco may be down, but not necessary out. Last year’s Dead Disco hit ‘You’re Out’, with its Frankmusik remix, was one of our favorite tracks—you can download it over here. Also enjoy these other remixes from Dead Disco’s 2007 ep ‘You’re Out’ (with Victoria included). Remixes courtesy of Londoner Rufaust:

Little Boots’ ‘Stuck on Repeat’ will be released on white label wax in approximately four weeks. Sit tight at the edge of the chair. A full LP is to follow, produced by Greg Kurstin of L.A. indie rock outfit The Bird & the Bee and jazzy alt. rocker outfit Geggy Tah. Good things are coming.

She’s brilliant, by the way she’s also making tracks with the guy from ‘The Bird 7 The Bee’ and also with Dev from lightspeed champion, metronomy & seiji!
i interviewed her here, there’s everything you need to know:
ahh i forgot to link it:

@ Faisal J.:
I mentioned that, but like anything with a lot of words, most people don’t read it. hah.
Thanks for the link. Also, if anyone wants to hear her interview and ‘guest playlist’ the 103.1 ‘Neon Noise’ from two weeks back, the recording is here:

@ R, didn’t know musicblogging was such a pissing contest. i thought it was about promoting good music. weird.
@ distaster: no one said anything about a pissing contest - i didnt have time to leave an essay, but wanted people to check out another fantastic blog that was a bit more hotly tipped on this track (and this style of music sometimes too), in case others wanted to check out that as well.
obviously, i’m here on missingtoof cuz there’s good tunes, but its not the worst thing to let a blog know they’re a moment late, or to let folks know other blogs are out there and maybe have a relationship to that music as well.
its the internet, don’t take it so personal!
@ r:
We opted to spread high quality audio more than being first. First is nice, but not so important. My posts always spread the highest audio available, properly tagged and BPM analyzed, sometimes at the expense of a week’s delay. Did you even read the post? I reference the blog who posted it first (big Stereo), and the reason why missingtoof held off.
We were waiting for 320kbps of the original and dub. Because Little Boots sent us 96kbps versions thur myspace the first week in February, and getting higher ones took a few more emails to her management. It’s likely that 320kbps is circulating because of my emails, as they changed the files on the the management’s promotional server for everyone to access after I explained my concerns. High bitrate audio is important, we stand by that. DJs rely on it. 96kbps cannot be played on PA systems very well.
And, the post above is the very first you’ll find the ‘Dub’ version, but again, this isn’t a pissing contest so I didn’t mention that in the post.
It’s not personal. I just don’t think you read the post before opening your trap. We read disco dust. Good blog. Alex (of Disco Dust) is an acquaintance and we link his blog on the sidebar.
This song is AMAZING
Kidz - not every blog has to be FIRST or EXCLUSIVE or MY dad’s smarter than YOUR dad…good lord!
And the Toofies are smart: They waited to give you a good quality version of the song….ain’t THAT more important???
Hell, I feel very exclusive myself, as I gave this wonderful track it’s world premier on my radio show on Feb. 3rd…I had no idea how much love the track would get out there - so quickly!…very cool!
If you wanna stream the interview with Victoria and the tracks she picked for me to mix, it’s here:

MISSING TOOF ROCKS AND I LOVE THEM!

@ Paul V.:
Here here!
I linked your interview in the comments above too! It’s really cool that victoria just happen to be listening when you threw Dead Disco on the radio and contacted you about coming into the station and getting her interview and premier. That’s how it went down, pretty much right?
The planets aligned or something.
I never liked dead disco, all their songs seemed to have really annoying vocals and horrible tunes - but this is brilliant!
and 320kbps=love. even though it takes up loads of space on my rubbish mp3 player with only 256mb of storage.
Hey man just came across your blog and I love it! Wish one day mine could be as good as yours. Also, thanks a lot for waiting to post 320kps quality and having it BPM analyzed. Peace
Hey, I love this site, but it always crashes the java in my firefox… I’ve tried updating, but still no dice.
Any ideas? I’d really prefer not to have to use IE.
@ cwonder:
Java? Really? Java or javascript? Do you get an error message of any kind? We’ll try and troubleshoot if you tell us as much as you can.
just for the record: i got the 320kbps one straight from little boots’ management after writing a few emails.
and well, of course it is nice being first but in the end, who cares. every established blog has a lot of followers that can’t be bothered to read all the blogs.
i just like to give credit when i come across good tracks on other blogs and decide to post them later on. and i hate when people don’t. that’s obviously not the case here though and i heart missingtoof. disaster knows!
@ aleks discodust:
Good holding off on waiting for the 320kpbs. They got the original 320 out pretty quick, but the dub version got messed up the upload to their server. …I really hate 96kbps with a passion. Someday I hope everybody moves to FLAC or some other lossless audio (and hopefully Serato will finally support it).
I try to link blogs when I remember or it’s appropriate. Everyone deserves to have their work appreciated. Musicians, bloggers , DJs and the whole chain.
Love yr blog. Party on.
Hey Kittens:
Yes, that is the story exactly! The first song of one of my recent show’s was Dead Disco’s “You’re Out”…10 minutes later, I check my MySpace messages, and Victoria sent me the sweetest note:
“Hi, my name’s Victoria and you just played my song. Thanks! I’m in LA now working on my new project…etc. etc.”
So - as I described it to her - it was total kizmet, or an aligning of the planets, or just damn good luck - that I played DD, and she was in LA AND listening to my show! Hell, at that point, I was just thrilled that she’d had the show on!…lol
The rest just worked out perfectly, by being able to have her be on the show the following weekend.
End of fairytale romance story
“from blackpool, london”
haha!
