Made entirely from (Moog, Roland, Waldorf, etc.) synthesizers with guest appearances from the likes of longtime Matmos collaborators Lesser and Hrvatski (Keith Fullerton Whitman), as well as Marshall Allen (Sun Ra Arkestra) and minimalist composer Terry Riley, this might just be my favorite Matmos album ever! It’s a colorful kaleidoscope of wonderful playful sounds that recalls a lot of Mouse on Mars‘ earlier work. ‘Supreme Balloon’ shows again how multi-faceted Matmos (Drew Daniel and Martin C. Schmidt) are musically, marking yet another superb release that further solidifies their importance to music that matters.
