Always on some ol’ next shit, L.A.’s Royal Rumble come off with a properly executed cover of iconic Post-Punk and New Wave band, Adam & the Ants’s ‘Stand and Deliver’. The Rumble’s RussInABox handles the vocals.

This cover is just one in a series of sixty (that’s right, 60!) new cover songs, served up free as part of Buffet Libre’s ‘Rewind 2′ project. Buffet Libre put the tracks up free last week and we’ve marinated in Buffet downloads ever since—Does this sound appetizing?: Dragonette covering ZZ Top. Frankmusik covering The Police, and Cryptonites remixing Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Those are just a tiny sample of the delectable tunes served up, right now, for free, at Buffet Libre. Go hungry. Dig in.

Royal Rumble also laced us up with something different—a mix in the minimal techno vein, although not in it’s purest form. Perhaps it’s faux minimal or “MnmLOL” as Royal Rumble have coined it.

Tracklist:

  1. Guy Gerber & Chaim – MySpace
  2. In Flagranti – Firmly Planted Memories
  3. Guido Schneider & Andre Galluzzi – Albertina
  4. Oliver Koletzki – Da Bleibt Er Ganz Cool
  5. Guy J – Under Pressure
  6. Oliver Huntemann – Real Love feat. Michael Skelton
  7. Andre Crom – Bodenturnen Dub
  8. Acid Girls – Palms (Joe and Will Ask? Remix)
  9. Stimming – Funkworm

  • I like how you mixed the techno in with the stripped down electro. Judging from the songs you used, it sounds like you guys might be fans of Claude Von Stroke. If you haven't heard him you should definitely check his tracks out. "Who's Afraid of Detroit" is the shit.

Dan,can I ask what kind of gear you all use to playout.your song/song transitions come quick.and I like all the layers too.
  • I Dig Stand and Deliver.

    there's a "minimal bandwagon"?

atleast they're jumping off the electro band wagon, i think there's enough people on that as is
  • We just want to make mixes of music we like listening to. How boring of people would we be if we just listened to electro all day? We are really stoked on the stuff in this mix. The tracks are kinda more electro than minimal anyway. As a techno geek you should be able to tell that just by listenning. Anyway, I see your point about sticking to what we are known for, but I think we kinda don't care to do so. As long as we like a track, it has room to go in a mix of ours.

    Solid remix.

i dont think its ok for electro guys to bandwagon? jump to minimal techno stuff. stick to what your good at and known for.
  • That has got to be the WORST Adam & The Ants cover I have ever heard.

Now, if they removed the I'm-so-ironically-bored hipster vocals entirely, that track would be a bangin' little chunk of electrofunk.
  • Actually, can't take the credit for that. "MnmLOL" was coined by Greg from Acid Girls. We don't have that kind of creativity.
  • Always nice to see one of LA's own featured. Those guys sure do get funky.
