U.K. Quintet The Long Blondes recently called it quits in late 2008 mainly due to lead guitarist Dorian Cox having a stroke. Since their inception in 2003 the band released two full length albums and one collection of their singles released on Rough Trade appropriately named “Singles”. Their last album Couples was produced by production genius Erol Alkan.

Portland’s ever genre-changing sensations Glass Candy have remixed one of the stand out tracks on The Long Blondes final album. Nostalgia is a proper title for a song to listen to whilst we reflect on The Long Blondes awesome existence.

You’ll recognize where bits and pieces of this remix came from if you’ve heard the early instrumental version of Glass Candy’s Animal Imagination which sounds nothing like the version of the song that is currently sporting the same title on their MySpace. Name change, perhaps. If you haven’t heard it, please do:

Word on the street is that The Long Blondes former lead vocalist Kate Jackson has a solo album in the works. Scottish band 1990s also said Kate will guest spot on one the songs off their forth coming album ‘Kicks’, which is due out in March.

All of The Long Blondes albums are available for purchase on iTunes go them up if you haven’t and reminisce with us.
