Montreal’s Duchess Says finally come out with their debut full length, ‘Anthologie des 3 Perchoirs’, out on highly-acclaimed Alien 8 Recordings (also home to acts as diverse as Japanoise terrorist Merzbow and psych/prog rockers Acid Mothers Temple).
‘Anthologie des 3 Perchoirs’ is an energetic and frantic beast of an album that at once will force you to go crazy (on the dancefloor or on any surface for that matter). Tracks like ‘Rabies (Baby’s Got The)’ and ‘Melon’ are pure rock & roll mayhem, whereas tracks like ‘La Friche’ and ‘A Century Old’ are more in the psych-rock-freak-out sorta vein.
Coming from personal experience, Duchess Says are amazing live, and with this release, they manage to achieve that level of energy. Highly recommended.
Berlin’s ‘Sex (I’m A…)’, taken off of the album ‘Pleasure Victim’, (which also contains the hits ‘The Metro’ & ‘Masquerade’) was a major new wave club hit back in the 80’s, and still sounds fresh in the club between some Soft Cell & Adult.…believe me- I still rock it out at Atomic!
For this remix I took bits and pieces of the original to come up with a sort of minimal Detroit-Electro style track (think Dopplereffekt or Ectomorph)…
Like you, we have girlfriends, ex-girlfriends, stalkees, stalkers, parents, teachers, taxes, bosses, bills and probation officers that sometimes eat up way more time than we would like. Which leads to our sometimes incommunicado status. We apologize. Real life sucks. The internet is way better.
Now that that’s out of the way, in our absence we got a lot done. We sponsored a few showcases at SXSW, djayed a few gigs around town including one with The Rapture, we got interviewed in BPM, Kittens f.k.a. ‘Bumpsdick’ made a new Missingtoof logo (which you can see in the image above) and our boy Basura laid down this brand new Official Missingtoof Mix in hopes that y’all will forgive us for being mad M.I.A.
Without further ado we present The March Toof Mix.
Tracklist
Boys Noize- Frau
Digital Underground vs. Justice- Humpty Dance of Nazareth (Basura Blend)
Yo! On Friday we got Stretch Armstrong rolling through to throw down a freak nasty set before he plays the Neighborhood Music Fest in LA this Saturday. He played Blow Up last Friday and the party was off the chains! If you missed that event or just wanna catch the madness again come through! He’ll be joined by our very own mix master Basura. The party is free when you RSVP at http://going.com/stretch. Get on it!
Oh, and if you are in the area and itchin’ for something to do tonight Basura, myself and Jeff Jagged (co-owner of On The Corner Music) get all glitchy with it at our new weekly DataBASS at The Blank Club in SJ.
Oh snaps! Fresh off the decks is the official Missingtoof Mix Vol. 1! Our very own vinyl technician Basura straight manhandles this mix! It’s 33 tracks packed into set that’s a little over an hour. All of the tracks only get 1 to 2 minutes air time, so it’s jammin’ from start to finish.

P.S. We’re thinking about putting out a physical compilation on CD as well. If you are in a band, produce, or make a mean peanut butter & jelly sandwich, whisper at your boys!

College radio loves Basura & he loves them back. They have been passing mono back and forth to each other for years. I’m sure you’ve heard Basura’s other mixes but he just laid down a fresh set on KSCU a couple week ago.

The street market is back! Those of you who came out last summer know that San Jo needs events like this. Downtowners ride your bikes over for 3 great bands, art and merch from local vendors, and an all-around good time.

Deservers (up and coming indie rockers from Modesto)
This weekend it’s going down! San Francisco based ‘lectro rockers Luxxury have finally unleashed their long awaited ‘Sweet and Vicious, The Remixes’ CD (cover art work by me!). There will be two back to back record release parties starting this Friday.
First up, Friday, Lights Down Low vs Luxxury. Featuring live performances by Baron Von Luxxury & Johnatron of The Workout joined by the likes of Canada’s ‘All Night Dance Party‘. Special guest DJ Devin Dirt all the way from Brooklyn & of course resident dancefloor destroyer Sleazemore on the ones and two’s.
