Florida-based Exzakt is definitely no newbie to the electro scene. He has remixed the likes of Anthony Rother, Tiefshwarz, and Miss Kittin & The Hacker, as well as having put out releases on top-notch electro labels like Satamile & (Anthony Rother’s) Datapunk imprint.

As if that weren’t enough, he also runs his own Monotone label and operates the Electro Wax Online Record Store and Electro Alliance websites.

With over 20 12″s and 3 albums put out (and much more along the way), one must think- ‘Does this guy ever get any sleep?!??’ Well, who could blame him? Exzakt LOVES what he does and does it VERY well. His sound is dark and heavy, just the way I like it- and there hasn’t been one single release I haven’t heard from him that I didn’t like.

Here are a few of his remixes taken from his ‘V.I.P. Remixes’ release… and folks- don’t get it twisted- THIS IS ELECTRO.

The B-52’s formed in Athens Georgia 1976 after a drunken night at a Chinese restaurant. The name comes from the bouffant wigs that are a part of the band’s distinctive look, and not the airplane of the same name contrary to popular belief. Their quirky take on the emerging new wave and unusual guitar tunings set them apart from the pack.

The band gained popularity pretty much from it’s inception, but couldn’t break into the US top 40 charts until their 1989 release ‘Cosmic Thing’ which contained the infamous track ‘Love Shack’ which landed at number 3 on the billboard charts. A few months later in early 1990 ‘Roam’ which was also on ‘Cosmic Thing’ reached number 3 on the US charts as well.

Though the band had been around for more than a decade, 1989 – 1990 was manys first introduction to the band, which is a shame because their earlier material didn’t get much radio play in the U.S. Although Australia had been big supports of the band pretty much from the beginning. Here’s a few of my favorite cuts from the B-52’s.

Electroclash artists Chicks on Speed recognize the importance of B-52’s and in 2000 the released a collection of B-52’s covers on an album titled Chix-52. Their rendition of ‘Give Me Back My Man’ is excellent.

The B-52’s released a collection of hits from the past on a cd titled ‘Time Capsule: Songs For A Future Generation’ in 1998. That can be picked up here. If you hit up your local record store you can usually find used 12 inches for a few bucks. I saw ‘Party Mix’ and Whammy at the On The Corner Music on my last visit, all you non-locals hit up ebay.

Loosely translated it means ‘Mouth on – eyes to (connector out, I turn through)’. Whatever the hell that means. It doesn’t matter. Cobra Killer songs don’t need to make sense & haven’t really since their inception in 1998. ‘Mund Auf’ is off their album ‘76/77′ which was the follow up to 2002’s ‘Third Armpit’.

For fans of ADULT., Chicks On Speed, Sir Alice & Crossover.
