Hall & Oates‘ classic 80’s pop track ‘Out of Touch’ gets remixed by Indiana’s hardworking Action Jackson, giving it more of a ‘B-More’-style backbone. With its familiarity to the (general) public and overall catchiness of the tune itself, this should easily bring people on to the dance floor like bees on honey. On the rizzeal!
“Indianapolis born and raised, ACTION JACKSON has quickly established himself as one of the premier up and coming DJs in the country. Specializing in genre bending mixes that span multiple styles of music, he is equally comfortable spinning hip-hop, Baltimore club, electro, old school classics, dancehall, rock, and everything in between. His productions are diverse as well, having remixed artists such as Hall & Oates, Soulja Boy, and Treasure Fingers. In short, there’s not a crowd or party that he can’t rock. In 2007, he partnered with Flufftronix to form Rad Summer, a booking and promotions company, and has since been responsible for several succesfull events throughout the Midwest as well the first Indiana performances of Flosstradamus, DJ Assault, The Toxic Avenger, Scottie B., etc…”
Everything you ever wanted to know about Action Jackson is on his website here.
Here’s a brand new mix full of UNRELEASED material straight from the man himself, legendary DJ/producer/promoter extraordinaire, Larry Tee. (You know, the guy responsible for coining the term ‘Electroclash‘ and helping launch the careers of artists like Fischerspooner and Peaches…)
Whether it’s playing alongside DJ’s like AM and Steve Aoki or gigging it on the other side of the planet, you know GT can get the party started- whatever it is you need, Grandtheezy gotchoo’!
Need proof? Peep game on these here remixes, including a pretty new one he did for Danish indie rock act Nephew..
And if your ever up in Montreal, GT & DJ D.R.one (The other half of Team Canada) host Banana Split Sundaes North (every Sunday) @ The Blue Dog Motel! Past guests include VNDLSM, Thunderheist, and Krames…
You can also listen to GT & the rest of the Eh! Team every Saturday night on their mix show on FLOW 93.5 FM..
Also, be on the lookout for his new label coming out- I hear really good things about it’s roster/signings! And don’t you worry, Missingtoof will keep you informed…
Taking cues from the last post on Computer Club, I had to think back to Brooklyn peoples, The American Dream Team, who were the first to rinse out the stellar Mr. Oizo ‘Flat Beat’ remix on their recent debut mixtape, ‘What Dreams Are Made Of’. This mixtape has been passed around the blogosphere like a itchy rash, but what can we do, this shit is infectious!
The Black Ghosts - Repetition Kills You (Dir. Sarah Hay)
Monday! It’s time for a spankin’ new video premier from London’s The Black Ghosts, in the continuing video series brought to you by The Black Ghosts and IAMSOUND records, curated by CULT-GEIST and presented jointly on Missingtoof and Big Stereo.
Today brings the video for what will be the first “official” single from the album (although the video above will not be the “official” video), ‘Repetition Kills You’, featuring the supremely talented singer (& all around rockstar), Damon Albarn of British alt-pop band, Blur & cartoon-crossover phenomenon, Gorillaz. The video is directed by Parisian music journalist & director, Sarah Hay. The video pays simultaneously homage to famous French New Wave director Jean Luc Goddard’s Bande à part film and and the classic video game Pac-Man, obviously playing off the influence of Parisian artist Invader.
Please enjoy a small staple of ‘Repetition Kills You’ remixes from Netherlands’ houser, Laidback Luke, Floridian club-king Diplo and British electronica machine, Emperor Machine.

Jumping off the shoulders of the last post, we’ve got more brand new heat from Rochester’s Kill The Noise in the form of a remix of London-town R&B diva Estelle’s ‘American Boy’ with raps from Chicago’s finest Kanye West.
Chances are you’ve heard the original, seen the video on MTV or YouTube. Well, kill that noise and give this a spin:
This track has been mixed down a dozen times over. Compare that with these and make the call what you wanna throw down. Remixes from L.A. up-and-comers LAZRtag, the collaborative forces of Bmore hero Dave Nada and VA club kid Matt Nordstrom as Nadastorm, and Sydney’s Tenzin, who’s ‘American Boy’ remix made it to the #1 spot on Hype Machine via Hot Biscuits.
Los Angelian and DFA delegate Woolfy keeps it funky. The British transplant migrated to SoCal in the 90’s and quickly became a staple in the underground club scene went on to record for Guidance Records in the early part of this decade and has recently had his work released on quality imprints like Rong Music and Permanent Vacation.
His music is rooted in disco, funk, house, and the dubbed out electro
and post-punk that fueled global dance-floors in the late ’70s and on
through the ’80s. Here’s two recent Woolfy tracks and a remix of a Low Motion Disco joint for you to chew on.
Woolfy performs his first live set with a full band at San Francisco’s B.O.D.Y.H.E.A.T., tonight, Friday March 2nd at the Elbo Room. Also on the roster is local deck detonator, Kelley B, who has graced the wheels at a gaggle of bay are underground lairs. She is joined by DJ Fooders, who hails from Oakland and is part of the Addict Merchants crew, who keep the flag flying for top-notch hip-hop in the bay.
Look out for releases from Woolfy on DFA soonly. Stay tuned to his myspace page to keep your ears satisfied until the proper releases drop.
L.A.’s Philthy B wants to be your favorite DJ. Not long ago, the electro-phenom Villains were three—but now they are two, and Philthy B, former Villain, walks alone on this 46 minute mix, ‘It May B Durty but Luv the Jurny’. It’s similar to the skillful Villains - Vol. 1 Featuring Whiskey Pete mix we dropped on y’all last year, but this one has a little more gutter club thumping in the guts.
Also you should know, Philthy B has now teamed up with SF-come-LA electro-houser DJ Farron on the new project After Midnight. More on that in the future, but for now, dip into this. It’s some club, some electro, some dubstep, some hip hop—All good. This mixtape has been in my stacks for a minute, but the playlist isn’t spoiled. There’s dance left in it, so get dancing!

Philly representer, Nate Day, comes correct on his new “Everywhere LA is 30 Minutes” mix. Nate Day recently moved to LA and the title is a keen observation of life in a new place. Given this truth, the runtime of this mix is just perfect for the ride. It’s my current soundtrack for dancing in traffic. Get yr swerve on. It’s eclectic. It’s hectic. It’s dope.
