The sonic black eye that is the Crack W.A.R. was spawned from a cough syrup-fueled dream in 1995 somewhere in the Midwest. When King Riff, the founder later relocated to San Francisco the line up went through a ton of different members until synthesizer aficionado Obscuratron & vocalists L’Erin & Le Kim signed on.
In 2001 Crack W.A.R. (which stands for Crack We Are Rock) released their debut album, a split 12″ with Wolf Eyes & Ann Arbor. In ‘02 Tigerbeat6 released Silent Fantasy & the next year “Cosmic Mind Flight’ & had ‘Animal Trap’ remixed by Tommie Sunshine.

The act later disbanded for unknown reasons. Kim West is now in Death Sentence: Panda! which we will talk about in a future post. Unsure what the other Crack: W.A.R.er’s are up to. We’ll keep you posted.
