Little Boots: ‘Meddle’ remixed by Toddla T / ‘Stuck on Repeat’ remixed by Fake Blood

I’m repeatedly impressed by Blackpool/London electro-pop/italo-disco diva, Little Boots (formerly of Dead Disco) has been keeping busy since her solo debut, ‘Stuck on Repeat’, that we raved about last February. That record still gets heavy rotation and is still one of the best tracks of the year. As is the more recent Fake Blood remix. Fake Blood can do no wrong. Nor can the producer of the original Joe Goddard of Hot Chip; the original deserves another go also:

MP3: Little Boots – Meddle (Toddla T Remix)

Aside from being recently confirmed for the So Sweet stage at Southern California’s 13th annual Nocturnal Wonderland festival this September 13th, Little Boots is currently doing more cozy DJing gigs around L.A.. I caught my first intimate Little Boots performance last night in an East Hollywood discotech, the always amazing, always polysexual, A Club Called Rhonda. Hey Hollywood, you can see Little Boots again tonight at the pretty and young, PYT Friday night.

If you’re jonsing for more Little Boots, she has a new mixtape—a ‘Magical Tropical Mixtape’—available for free when you sign-up for her official mailing list.

Also see, Little Boots at YouTube, where you can watch her intimate bedroom performances, employing the cool-as-hell Yamaha TENORI-ON sequencer, sexy synths and Little Boots charm.

Visit Little Boots on MySpace or at her official site, Littlebootsmusic.co.uk.

More Little Boots in our archive, more Dead Disco too.

Lend your ears to Little Boots, of Blackpool, London, who’s one solitary track is very impressive and, dare I say, an early contender for song of the year? The must have song right now? We think so! The song is ‘Stuck on Repeat’, produced by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, with vocals by one Victoria Hesketh, or Little Boots, formerly one-third of hip electro-pop indie rockers Dead Disco:

Little Boots reached out to us at the same time our friends at Big Stereo blogged the original mix, that’s been receiving gushing responses. But, Missingtoof, we held back, because the files that reached us were an unacceptable 96kbps, but now—no less than one dozen emails & forwarded contacts later—we are happy to have Little Boots, as it should be heard, in glorious 320kpbs audio. If you downloaded it before somewhere else, download it again. 96kbps is a scourge on blogtown.

Here’s another Dub mix that’s similar to the original, but just different enough for y’all to notice. Take yr pick:

The Little Boots project may prompt questions about the state of Dead Disco. Are they no more? Are they disbanded? It’s hard to say, after Little Boots departure and a departure from 679 Recordings, Dead Disco may be down, but not necessary out. Last year’s Dead Disco hit ‘You’re Out’, with its Frankmusik remix, was one of our favorite tracks—you can download it over here. Also enjoy these other remixes from Dead Disco’s 2007 ep ‘You’re Out’ (with Victoria included). Remixes courtesy of Londoner Rufaust:

Little Boots’ ‘Stuck on Repeat’ will be released on white label wax in approximately four weeks. Sit tight at the edge of the chair. A full LP is to follow, produced by Greg Kurstin of L.A. indie rock outfit The Bird & the Bee and jazzy alt. rocker outfit Geggy Tah. Good things are coming.

frankmusik Frankmusik

Frankmusik is a 21 year old producer, songwriter from Thornton Heath South East London. He has lived there all his life and one day decided that it was high time that he made some sexy synth pop music. With a combination of retro synths, commodore 64 samples, fast chunky drum riffs and tried and tested lyrics, Frankmusik has started to get the ball rolling in 2007. Earlier this year he released his first EP titled ‘Frankisum’.

Here’s a track from the EP:

Disco Dust was one of the frist blogs we’d seen posting Frankmusik and they even did an interview with him. If you like what you hear go pick up the whole ep on itunes or emusic. Check the myspizzle for dates and tracks & pics.

Dead Disco

The girls from Dead Disco sound magical, look it too. With their new track they venture out from their indie hipster roots and try on some pants that are a bit poppier but still staying true to their sound. This remix is by FrankMusik.

Dead Disco

dead disco Dead Disco

A quick search on blogsearch & the hype machine shows that either blogoshperians are not liking Dead Disco or they are just not hip to the game. It has to be the latter because it would be hard to refuse the goodness that is Dead Disco. These beauties from the UK create a brand of indie/electro/rock that is hip & fun & always dance able. Very reminiscent of blondie. The group is produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco so you know the bass lines are throbbing & are sure to keep dancefloor heads bobbing.

Impeccable DJ sets by New York City’s own Syrup Girls & Drop The Lime. DTL & SG’s definitely do not skimp on the exclusive tracks, remixes & white labels in these mixes. They cover all the subjects, electro-house to grime to booty-bass. It’s like a cheat sheet for your next DJ set.

Sorry, you guys are gonna have to buy the CD for the tracklist!

Metronomy.

metron Metronomy.

Metronomy is the musical moniker of Joseph Mount who is a producer from Brighton. Lately he’s been the man responsible for some really excellent big name remixes like The Gorillaz ‘El Manana’ remix posted on The Yellow Stereo & Dead Disco’s ‘The Treatment’ remix posted over at Good Weather For Airstikes. Here’s a couple of fun tracks of his own. They don’t really sound like his remix work but they are good nonetheless.

For fans of the The Go Team & Ratatat.
