From no-wave rock beginnings to the italo disco sensation that they are today, Glass Candy never ceased to astonish with every release. I’m convinced that Johnny Jewel, the man behind the Glass Candy sound is a genius and Ida No, the woman behind that dreamy voice is an angel.
The duo has been know to close out their live sets by singing one of their songs on top of the Geto Boys‘ ‘Mind Playing Tricks On Me’ beat. Last month they unveiled a new demo track on their myspace titled ‘Geto Boys’ which is Ida covering Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Iko Iko’ on top of the Geto Boys beat. The two songs go together amazingly well.

I’ve heard them refered to as “She Wants Joy Division” & “Outerpol” & other similar nicknames. Whatever you want to call this SoCal based duo, their self titled debut album is undeniably good & their live show ain’t to bad either. Let’s just hope their follow up album will be just as impressive.
