Get Steed Lord in your eardrums now! This Icelandic foursome makes crunkin’ disco/house that’s ready for the world’s stage. Mark my words, Steed Lord are what’s hot right now. That’s genuine statement, not just a corny-clever remark to introduce their new track entitled ‘Feel the Heat’. But, since it works so nicely as such: Steed Lord are so hot right now! So, uh, ‘Feel the Heat’!
Another new joint featuring the vocals from Krummi of Icelandic hardcore-punk outfit Minus (a Kerrang! magazine favorite). The term “dance punk” just got legitimized.
That their is the new, but their best is, perhaps, last year’s blog-hit ‘Dirty Mutha’. Straight up disco with a modern “Crunk / Electro / House” twist. The vocal talent, Kali manages to capture a little of Betty Davis in her voice. Say what(!?), an Icelandic 20-something hipster channeling the most soulful diva ever? Absolutely—It’s a strange and wonderful world. We’ve got the original and a remix by Ed Banger’s DJ Mehdi:
If do the disco, you’ll supremely dig ‘You,’ which shows how retro they go. If you take a little ‘ardcore dirty-south club bangerin’ with your disco, then don’t miss the Klever remix.
Everyone’s been asking how the Ed Banger party was, but needless to say it was nothing short of outstanding. Words could not even describe the events that took place that night. Our parents have Styx tickets forever framed in their scrapbooks, our generation will have yellowing Justice ticket stubs to show off to our grandchildren.
Here’s a video clip from the night that will live on in infamy. Video by Peter Noble of TheGentleKing.com who is SF’s premier dance party videographer.
The fabulous frenchies played insane re-edits of all the Ed Banger classics & dance faves like Gossip & Green Velvet. Then they dipped in to some old school cuts, such as Rage Against the Machine which had everyone in the crowd chanting ‘This is for the people of the sun’! Then they pulled out all the stops & threw on some old school rave cuts. I was pretty toasty by this time, but I swear they played 1995’s ‘Are Am Eye’ a.k.a. NOOM 13.
Anyone else remember this track?! It was either this or Nuclear Hyde or an Ed Banger re-edit of one of the two?!. If it was in fact this track, The EB’s brought the track in at the break around (4:15)
This shit is mad old so might have to dig in some crates to find it, or find a record collector who has one (like me!). Sometimes copies pop up on ebay. If you have a copy that you want to sell HTFR.COM will buy it off you.
What are you guys doing this weekend? Writing hate mail to your parents? Fulfilling your community service hours? Well, I’m raiding my piggybank and heading out to this:
If any of you guys live in the area & feel like giving a player a ride, I got a dollar on it & I’ll promise not to hit on your little sister.
