Stereo Heroes remix The Offspring's 'Come Out and Play (Keep 'em Separated)'

Self-described "whacky french fu**ers", Stereo Heroes, make a some big tunes that are wacky, but far from wack. We've threw our support behind the team from the onset and they've gone on to grace the blogosphere with many a banger. The Stereo Heroes got back to us with this remix befitting of a debut on this Cali-based blog, a remix of California punk staples The Offspring. It's a remix of the band's punchy 1994 hit 'Come Out And Play (Keep 'em Separated)'. If you know or u don't, get acquainted with the original track on YouTube. This is electro-punk as it gets & it's ass-kickin', broham!

More recent goods from the Stereo Heroes are these: An brand new original, 'Clark Kent', and last year's original 'Washout' as remixed by fellow Frenchman Mustard Pimp:

[13mb | 320 cbr | 5:23 | 133 bpm]

It doesn't quit there; Here are a fistful of remixes Stereo Heroes have banged out for masked Frenchman Jean Moustache.

MP3: Jean Moustache – Rambonette (Stereo Heroes Remix) (2009)
[11mb | 320 cbr | 4:41 | 129 bpm]

A remix of the previously featured French duo, Zingone & Nina's new 'Kick It'.

MP3: Zingone & Nina – Kick It (Stereo Heroes Remix) (2009)
[10mb | 320 cbr | 4:28 | 129 bpm]

An artist who remixed Stereo Heroes 'Washout' last year and now they can return the favor. I'm speaking of Mendle's 'Beatburger' EP, just released on PRB Label (the French one, opposed to the Canadian one) on March 9th (along side remixes from Trouble & Bass'r Mikix the Cat, among others), featuring Tunde Olaniran.

MP3: Mendel feat. Tunde Olaniran – Beatburger (Stereo Heroes Remix) (2009)
[11mb | 320 cbr | 4:41 | 129 bpm]

And finally, Djedjotronic featuring South Africa's finest Spoek. It dropped last year but it's still full of fresh nasty.

MP3: Djedjotronic feat. Spoek – Dirty and Hard (Stereo Heroes Remix) (2008)
[10mb | 320 cbr | 4:24 | 128 bpm]

Stereo Heroes first EP is going to be released on April 6th through Leonard De Leonard's label, Leonizer Records. The EP includes remixes by Brazil's heaviest of hitters, Mixhell & Japanese 'lectro raver Rayflash. Major!

Beyond that, Stereo Heroes are rollin' through Canada right now, are playing their native France next month & will be rollin' through our S.F. neighborhood for the 12th Annual etd.POP festival, this May 23rd at Cow Palace. Sharing the stage with the likes of other favs Deadmau5, Felix Cartal, Adam Freeland, Alex Metric, LA Riots, Derrick Carter, Flosstradamus, Paul Van Dyk and much more. Always current Stereo Heroes dates on their events page at MySpace.

It's always nice when things we like collide! This is like some MFin' rainbow sprinkles & butterscotch on my strawberry frogurt right here!

What it is, is, N.Y. posse, Leif (once PalmsOut representer) doing a workover of Glass Candy's homage to 5th Ward gangsters, Geto Boys, on the track, 'Geto Boys'. It's got that Geto Boys 'Mind Playin' Tricks on Me' sample that's forever fresh.

MP3: Glass Candy – Geto Boys (Leif Remix) (2009)
[10mb | 320 cbr | 4:29 | 129 bpm]

And since we haven't had a wholly Leif-centric post since his 'Flossy Bounce' EP years ago, let's keep good ch00nz coming with these: The track 'Black Magic' & remixes from last year's 'Black Magic Promo EP'. Nice work in the original & in the remixes from Swedish houser The Touch with the haunting vocals of Swedish singer Lina and the other from fellow New Yorkers, Stay High that takes a fidget/dubstepped approach.

MP3: Leif – Black Magic (2008)
[11mb | 320 cbr | 4:40 | 153 bpm]

MP3: Leif – Black Magic (The Touch & Lina Remix) (2008)
[14mb | 320 cbr | 6:06 | 118 bpm]

MP3: Leif – Black Magic (Stay High Remix) (2008)
[10mb | 320 cbr | 4:30 | 140 bpm]

Keeping the good stuff coming, I must say I'm quite partial to this cover of Stockholm's finest siren, Lykke Li. Leif's voice is so far apart from Lykke Li's—& the vibe is so different—yet it works just the same. An interesting take:

MP3: Leif – Little Bit (Lykke Li cover) (2008)
[7mb | 320 cbr | 3:12 | 124 bpm]

And finishing up with another gem that's been sitting on in the ol' inbox. One from Brooklyn's Neon Coyote, a remix of Leif's 'Timbs'.

MP3: Leif – Timbs (Neon Coyote Slow Jam) (2009)
[15mb | 320 cbr | 6:37 | 99 bpm]

Purchase last year's 'Black Magic EP', the sixth release on blog-gone-label, Palms Out Records, through Beatport.com. And sit tight for Leif's soon-to-be-released next solo EP, as well as and EP with his band Kids in the Garden, the reincarnation of the late, Aries Noise.

Tigersapien with remixes by Kolt13 & Designer Drugs

Four man, Philly meets N.Y.C. crew, Tigersapien, have a sexy sleazy tune in 'God Knows'. The sacrilege is awesome, and so is the supreme remix production of Parisian producer Kolt13. Tigersapien's vocals are admittedly on the emo-pop tip with a hint of whine (in the best of ways, like, say, The Faint), but I love the cockiness of it all, and I'll tell you what, my lady friends do too! Their crossover appeal is high and the "band to watch" label is already being thrown around the blogosphere quite a bit. Enjoy this dirty love song about the truths of "hookin' up". This one is for you boo.

MP3: Tigersapien – God Knows (Kolt13's Pornostream Remix) (2009)
[13mb | 320 cbr | 5:46 | 130 bpm]

The Tigersapiens made some waves in January with the tune 'Youth & Vitality', particularly as remixed by N.Y. boys, Designer Drugs. The original and the remix are both rather tasty and have that same sexy swaggar.

MP3: Tigersapien – Youth and Vitality (2009)
[9mb | 320 cbr | 3:58 | 126 bpm]

Here's another original production that i can really bounce around to.

MP3: Tigersapien – Luxury (2009)
[11mb | 320 cbr | 4:47 | 135 bpm]

The originals above are just a pinch of hottness taken from their EP released in January. The EP is for sale on iTunes and well worth yr duckets. And, I do believe these boys have a winning gimmick, wearing fuzzy tiger heads for press shots. I hope they sound as good live and keep the tiger head and champagne pourin' on tits image rollin' along.

Before we go, let's bring the focus back to producer Kolt13, who's intricate production values are producing some extraordinary things for not only Tigersapien, but others, including this rework of up and coming hip-hop super-producers, Ohio's The Kickdrums.

Miss Kittin & The Hacker: 'PPPO' & 'Party In My Head' from sophmore record 'Two' / Mix

misskittinhacker Miss Kittin & The Hacker: PPPO & Party In My Head from sophmore record Two / Mix

Mark your calendars for what will be a joyous day, when the forces of Frenchmen (and Frenchwoman) The Hacker and Miss Kittin come together once more! Collectively known as Miss Kittin & The Hacker, the pair have released EPs periodically since 1996, however it was their 2001 full length, the descriptively titled, 'First Album' that sank and arrow into the hearts of so many techno fans! That sexy techno record (which some even called 'electroclash', but, hey, what's in a name anyway?), released on DJ Hell's reputable International DJ Gigolos, held us over for years nearly a decade, with a support from new EP releases over the years, but now, yes now, we will finally have a second full length to adore! Following the trend, the new record is titled 'Two' and we can expect it to be on sale April 20th! This record will be released on Kittin's own fledgling imprint Nobody's Bizzness (which also released her solo 'Batbox' last year, blog 'd here). Yay! Here's a sample of what's in store!

MP3: Miss Kittin & The Hacker – PPPO (2009)
[15mb | 320 cbr | 6:29 | 125 bpm]

Youv'e just heard 'PPPO' the first single from the record. Other notable excursions on the record are a cover of Elvis Presley's 'Suspicous Minds'. Yes, you heard right, bloody Elvis freakin' Presley meets techno diva. Holy smokes. Now while that's novel and good, this track other track gets stuck in my head a little more. Let's party, my skull or yours:

MP3: Miss Kittin & The Hacker – Party In My Head (2009)
[15mb | 320 cbr | 6:38 | 120 bpm]

Now, here's a nice mix Miss Kittin recorded for French blog/label Phrench Phries last week. So far, I've listened to it about twice a day for a week. I'm a little obsessed. Please enjoy!

Tracklist:

  1. Rude 66 – Paradox Lake
  2. Miss Kittin & The Hacker – 1000 Dreams (Maxime Dangles Remix)
  3. DHS – House of God (Martin Landsky Remix)
  4. Chicks on Speed – Kaltes Klares Wasser
  5. Miss Kittin & The Hacker – PPPO (Function’s Sandwell Mix)
  6. Guy Gerber – Timing
  7. Appaloosa – The Day (We Fell in Love) (Acid Girls Wept Remix)
  8. Robert Calvin – Mummy wants some Eggs
  9. Tommy Four Seven – Smoke
  10. Surkin – Next of Kin (Todd Edwards Remix)
  11. D.I.M. – Is you (Brodinski Remix)

Yazoo: 'Situation (Cory Enemy & Skreach Remix)' + Hollertronix & Housemaniac mixes

yazoo Yazoo: Situation (Cory Enemy & Skreach Remix) + Hollertronix & Housemaniac mixes

Yazoo (or just 'Yaz' to us Yanks) was a British new wave group born in 1982 and laid to rest in '83—short lived, with only to albums, but with a lasting legacy. Built from equal parts of former Depeche Mode songwriter, Vince Clarke on keys and English singer Alison Moyet doing vocals, this group left their mark on many a band as well as young remixers, the L.A. to ATL transplants, Cory Nitta a.k.a. Cory Enemy of Pink Enemy and Skreach, who have taken the B-side, 'Situation' (a popular track in its own right), from Yaz's '82 single, 'Only You', have cut it up for the clubbbb. It's a little bit electro with with a dubstep break in the middle. Is this a new trend? Following the After Midnight tune posted earlier this week which also had the electro/dubstep/electro switch up. If that's the trend, I sure ain't mad at it!

MP3: Yaz – Situation (Cory Enemy & Skreach Remix) (2009)
[11 mb | 320 cbr | 4:37 | 128 bpm]

Yazoo has remained current over the last three decades with remixes from a slew of producers and mash-up DJs. In addition to a notable remix from Hercules Love Affair last year, Yazoo found themselves on the 2006 Hollertronix (a.k.a. Diplo & Low Bee) release #6 with a 'Don't Go' Bmore cut redubbed 'Don't Go Snitchin". Also, the track above is gunning for my favorite mix of 'Situation', knocking this heavy house remix from a mysterious UK white label bootleg record, dubbed 'Housemaniac 2008 Remix' from #1:

After Midnight remixes Club District Allstars, Rockwell & M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade.

aftermidnight After Midnight remixes Club District Allstars, Rockwell & M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade.

We're fans and friends of L.A.'s After Midnight. They are house-rooted DJ Farron and former-Villain, Philthy B. We've had the pleasure of introducing them last year and are down for what they're cookin' up now.

What they're cookin' is an official remix for South Side Chicago's Club District Allstars' 'Change', released on Textrue Recordings. Club District Allstars is the collaborative forces of major house hero CZR, protégé Vince Melo & Malik (a.k.a. one-half of The Outhere Brothers. Wow. Boom Boom anyone?). This will house you!

MP3: Club District Allstars – Change (After Midnight Remix) (2009)
[16mb | 320 cbr | 7:00 | 130bpm]

Also on deck, we've got some tasty bootlegs. First up, Rockwell's 1984 spooky-yet-poppy r&b jam 'Somebody's Watching Me', featuring an at-prime Michael Jackson. Forever epic! Peep the original video on YouTube. The After Midnight boys give it that Jenny Jones makeover that take it from '80s electro-pop to to modern electro to dubstep and back again. This shit is 'ard.

MP3: Rockwell – Somebody's Watching Me (After Midnight Bootleg Remix) (2009)
[13mb | 320 cbr | 5:26 | 125bpm]

Bootleg #2, is not second in quality or importance—it is an equally tasty remix of M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade's sensual, mnml, house track, 'Body Language'. Here After Midnight shows their diversity with a little excursion in dub.

See After Midnight doin' their thing at the Fresh Squeezed rave at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last August on YouTube. Live vicariously lurkin' After Midnight's photostream of pics on Zannel.

BTW, Club District Allstars' CZR plays tonight in L.A. at House in Hollywood, alongside Palms Out crew's B.Rich. Boardners. 18+ Word!

Our Lady Fatima a.k.a. Messinian a.k.a We Don't Sleep

ourladyfatima Our Lady Fatima a.k.a. Messinian a.k.a We Dont Sleep

Feelin' Messinian! While archaeologists (and Google users) may know Messinian to be the last age of the Miocene epoch, everyday junglists know rapper J Messinian as MC from the mighty mighty Planet of the Drums crew alongside Dieselboy, AK 1200 and Dara. House heads know him for his Beatport-friendly tunes with Hatiras & DJ Dan. And more still, blog-house electro heads will surely recognize his tune 'Throw It Away' as remixed by Designer Drugs. I'd like to introduce you to another side of the known "rave rapper". Meet Our Lady Fatima (a reference a religious story some may recognize), the newest facet of Messinian that takes a decidedly post-punk approach, reminiscent of the music of his childhood and adolescence (born in '79, y'all). And here's the cool part—more than just sentimental explorations—he's making things that sound contemporary and just plain good—enough so to have 10 cuts in heavy rotation at my house. Here's a few:

MP3: Our Lady Fatima – Twilight (Touchtones) (2009)
[3mb | v0 vbr | mono | 3:02 | 128 bpm]

MP3: Our Lady Fatima – The Hardest Way (2009)

MP3: Our Lady Fatima – Let Her Riot (21 Guns) (2009)

MP3: Our Lady Fatima – All That You Do (2009)
[3mb | v0 vbr | mono | 3:23 | 128 bpm]

Damn, remember how we was kinda post-punk blog at one point? Remember 'New Wave Tuesdays'? Thanks Messinian for helping us get back to our roots! Lo-fi moody dark music 4 evar! The Our Lady Fatima project is all Messinian singing and producing, with one Jason Craveiro joining to produce and play keys at future shows.

Of course, Messinian is known for being a damn fine rapper and ain't nathin' changed. For his upcoming 'Vampire Hustle' album and projects on his fledgling label, Flash Art Records, distributed through INgrooves/Universal, he's enlisted some of his buddies like The Enemy (a.k.a. Treasure Fingers), Toxic Avenger, Jayvon, Cardiff Giants, Life After 1984, our MTSC residential DJs True Pseudo and even the late-great Disco D—big fat pimp, dick stay hard, never get limp! Messinian was recoding an album with D at the time of his death, this is one of the tunes that was made:

MP3: Messinian – Magic (prod. Disco D) (2009)
[4mb | ? br | 3:59 | 101 bpm]

Here's a few more from 'Vampire Hustle' plus the heavy Designer Drugs remix that you're likely already familiar with:

MP3: Messinian – Throw It Away (Designer Drugs Remix) (2008)
[9 mb | 320 cbr |3:43 | 130 bpm]

Whew! You've got the sampler pack that doesn't even include his work as We Don't Sleep, which is a live thing where he goes through a dozen genres of music in about 45 minutes! Dood is wild. He's the gulliest MFer with an art degree I know.

Have some quality time with Messinian over at Rockthedub.com which has a nice lengthy interview with our boy.

Tonight: Portland, you can catch Messinian playing with Klever. Tomorrow: the world! Check Messinian's MySpace tour page for info.

Villains remix N.A.S.A.'s 'Whatchudoin" featuring MIA, Santogold, Spank Rock & Nick Zinner

nasa Villains remix N.A.S.A.s Whatchudoin featuring MIA, Santogold, Spank Rock & Nick Zinner

Hot dang. Our most favoritest production duo on the come-up, Villains have made a massive tune in the form of this official remix for N.A.S.A.. N.A.S.A., which stands for North America South America, is the production duo of L.A.'s Squeak E. Clean and Sau Paulo's DJ Zegon. The tune is 'Whatchudoin" featuring the motherly MIA on the hook with Spank Rock on the verse. The track also features guitar-god Nick Zinner (most notably of Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Santogold (who take a lesser or absent roles in this here remix):

'Whatchudoin" comes from N.A.S.A.'s debut release, 'Spirit of Apollo', which saw release yesterday. Amazon's has hard copies for you to get your mitts on for just $7.99. That's half what it costs to download, homeboy! For your money you get a supremely banging album featuring (take a deep breath): Chali 2na (of Jurassic 5), Gift Of Gab (of Blackalicious), Method Man, RZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard (R.I.P.) & Ghostface Killah (of Wu-Tang Clan), E-40, DJ Swamp, Barbie Hatch, John Frusciante, KRS-One, Fatlip & Slim Kid Tre (formerly of The Pharcyde), Karen O (of Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Kanye West, Lykke Li, George Clinton, The Cool Kids, Scarface, DJ AM, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, DJ Qbert, Kool Kojak & DJ Babão, and (we're not done yet) even such interesting & unlikely combinations a such as Sizzla with Amanda Blank & Love Foxxx (of CSS), and (brilliantly) Tom Waits with Kool Keith and David Byrne joining Chuck D (of Public Enemy), Ras Congo, Seu Jorge & Z-Trip. Epic much?!

In other news, be on the lookout for Villains 'Birth EP'. True all the tracks on it have had their debut here in the past. But you should love to cop that hardcopy.

Oh, and did you hear about our new Monday night weekly at Cinespace in Hollywood. We've got these fantastic DJs called Villains playing alongside True Pseudo, Posso the DJ, myself and the Missingtoof crew, Josh David, 12th Planet, Handroids, Heavy Accents. We've also got Dirk Mai of BOXeight and Ceasar Sebastian taking pictures for your memories or for you to live vicariously! It's called 'Missingtoof Presents Sophisticated Clubbing' and you can stay up on all the happnings by adding the party's MySpace or Facebook pages.
