Mt. Sims- A Grave EP

mtsimslogo Mt. Sims- A Grave EP

Hungry Eye Records, home to well-respected bands like The Vanishing & The Sixteens, is now home to Mt. Sims (Who at one point used to be the musical vision of one Matt Sims, but is now a full-on band).

Speaking in the most general aspect, with their now much darker, brooding sound, Mt. Sims would fit pretty well between some Joy Division, She Wants Revenge, & Bauhaus (Mt. Sims actually had some production help from David J. on their last album, ‘Wild Light’).

Here are two tracks from ‘A Grave’, perfect for any death disco:

MP3: Mt. Sims- Lost In the Dark

What I like about Mt. Sims is, whether as a solo project or a band, they are musically adaptable. Having released two previous (more nu-electro-club sounding) albums on dance music juggernaut label International Deejay Gigolos and having toured with the likes of big-name acts like Ladytron & Peaches, we hear how versatile Mt. Sims’ sound really is.

Here are two cuts off of Mt. Sims’ first album, ‘Ultra Sex’:

If you like the darker sounds of Mt. Sims of the present, you may find a liking to other acts over at Hungry Eye Records. If you like your beats more electronic and clubby, and enjoy Mt. Sims’ sound of the past, check out the International Deejay Gigolos website. Either way, you’re in for some great music. But who says you have to choose?? Visit both sites!

Crossover - I Know Your Face

This is a story about a girl, asleep behind the wheel. Who by chance, one
evening, comes face to face with her own demon.

Unseen, until now…

Yes, I’ve posted this song before and I’ll do it again. I will keep preaching the gospel that is Crossover until the heathens of the world bow to one knee and sing the praises of Vee & Dez. Drink deep of the sound of salvation, my child.

Dip into our Crossover bag for more from this cosmic duo and do yourself a favor and pick up their 2005 release ‘Cryptic & Dire Sallow Faced Hoods Blast Off Into Oblivion’ from Amazon Crossover - I Know Your Face. And also check out this buried interview of Crossover by none other than Bigstereo. They talk about working with Carlo Pennisi of Goblin, whom you all know as who JUSTICE sampled on their Phantom track!

CROSSOVER - Over Exposure (video)

Last week our favorite dark ‘lectro duo CROSSOVER sent us this promo vid. Vee & Dez have shown us so much of their hearts through their music, in the video we get to see a little bit of their skin. Enjoy.

Over Exposure was released in 2003 on a three song EP & is actually a cover of ‘Phostographt’ which was released two years later. Word on the street was that CROSSOVER were to have a new album due out last summer, which did not happen. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that a new album will be conceived later this year.

We posted some tracks off ‘Cryptic & Dire’ back in December. Phostographt is from ‘Fantasmo’:

Crossover - Cryptic And Dire Sallow Faced Hoods Blast Off Into Oblivian

CADSFH Crossover - Cryptic And Dire Sallow Faced Hoods Blast Off Into Oblivian

‘Cryptic & Dire Sallow Faced Hoods Blast Off Into Oblivian’ although a mouthful & hard to request a song off of after a couple of drinks was one of my favorite albums of 2005. After hearing ‘I Know Your Face’ & ‘The Visitor’ Crossover quickly became musical crack to me.

All the songs vary in styles and it really is hard to classify the album as anything but ‘good’. C&DSFHBOIO was the duo’s follow up to their 2001 Fantasmo. 5 years is a long time to wait for an album, but this was well worth it. One of the best artists on International Deejay Gigolo Records, IMHO.

Visit their webpage. The site is just as dark & cryptic & confusing as their music is. I love it.
