Kanye West’s dj A-Trak slaps together the creamy beats of Kavinsky with the sweet vocals of MIA like an audio peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
We posted the bootleg version of this cut back in May. It was a lowly 96kbps, which is such a cocktease bitrate. Sounds good on the pc speakers but try playing that shit on a club system and risk getting disowned by your mom. A-Trak used the real deal Holyfield track on his Dirty South Dance mixtape.
Buy Dirty South Dance here. And get your Kavinsky needs fulfilled here. Add Kanye’s dj on the M-space. You guys are already friends with Kavinsky but visit his Tron looking page anyways. Also, be on the look out for the Fool’s Gold tour coming to molest your area.
Sooo, there was a little secret Ed Banger party in West Hollywood tonight at the infamous Viper Room, courtesy of Scion and Vice. In addition to Busy P, Kavinsky and SebastiAn, Justice decided to make an unannounced appearance, which is always nice. Thanks to Busy P for flying the boys in between their gig in Japan and their gig in Finland! With so much of the Ed Banger roster in the house they made it a fun rotation—DJing their signature sound with their tried and true CDJ setup.
Our boy C-Town also DJ’d the opening slot—just after conducting interviews with the Ed Banger gang. The transcription of that meeting is sure to show up in his little monthly rag called, Anthem Magazine. Just like his recent cover-story interview with Daft Punk that’s on news stands now in the current issue (with a Daft Punk photography spread shot by Hedi Slimane, which is breathtaking).
This right here is a music blog so let’s have some music! We love Edward Banger. We’re so friendly we call ‘em Ed. You like remixes, let’s do this! Tracks from Revl9n, Klaxons, Justin Timberlake & DJ Hell.
Zhiguli sent us a pair of mash-ups created within their ‘Distortion Disco Mix’ we posted last month (get it from the archive). Good mixes are made from good parts, now you can get at the building blocks.
Remember SebastiAn’s remix of Kavinsky’s ‘Testerosa Overdrive’ mashed with David Byrne’s ‘Lazy’—’member how sick it sounds! This mash-up was my personal highlight of the ‘Distortion Disco Mix’ and now it’s bite-sized:
If you ain’t heard Kavinsky is touring this summer with SebastiAn & Daft Punk. I’ve got my ticket locked away in the safe (a.k.a. under the bed). If you don’t have yours yet, in gods name why not?!
Ddddddamn son, was all I could say when I heard this remix of Three 6 Mafia’s ode to weed, alcohol & bitches; ‘Stay Fly’ (featuring 8ball & MJG). Listen to the soaring, distorted riffs the boys added to the cut. Sounds like Kavinsky &/or Justice were in the studio helping engineer this piece.
Dustin & Garret a.k.a. D&G hail from Vancouver, Canada & as their myspace states they are back & “about to bring back retro rave… fuck your New Rave”! Check out the boys original works, I’m really liking ‘Weekend’.
D&G also have a side project called We Are Dirty Dirty, peep the scene. Stay fly.
Electro banger bringer Kavinsky drops his new 1986 on Record Makers. This is the highly anticipated follow up to his Teddy Boy EP. 5 tracks of neon noise to mash down the highway too. The EP includes Sebastian’s remix of Testarossa Overdrive which we posted back in January, but here it is again.
And in case you forget what the video looked like, here you go.
The 12 inch is pressed on red vinyl and is available from arcademode. Check the hype machine for more Kavinsky stuff, add him on myspace & keep an eye on the dates to see when he comes to murderlize your town.
Okay, so we’ve all seen the video from Justice’s record release party. We’ve studied it a million times like the fan boys that we are. Found info on every artist that was involved.
Justice, CHECK. Uffie, CHECK. SebastiAn, CHECK. Mr. Oizo, CHECK. Kavinsky, CHECK. Surkin, CHECK. DJ Funk, CHECK. Mustapha 3000,CHECK. Bbbbbbut Gaspirator?! Who is he?!
Is he an artist/Dj? Does he produce? If so, where’s his music? What’s up?! Anyone know? Other than a very vague myspace profile, a t-shirt post & a bearbrick toy I’ve got nothing.
If you got the goods or any info whisper at your boy.
I need it to know so I can sleep. Thanks.
As usual I’m late to the game & I brought the wrong uniform. A few other bloggers (bigstereo, fluokids, crackers united) were upping you guys on Guns ‘N’ Bombs late last year & i’m just now getting around to it. MY BAD!
Electronic/Club duo from Los Angeles, California. Composed of Filip Nikolic aka Turbotito, current bass player for Ima Robot and former bass player of Junior Senior, and Johnny Love, notorious Chicago party promoter.
Remember that SebastiAn remix of Kavinsky’s Testarossa Autodrive I was talking about being impossible to find?! Well, the dudes over at Skull Juice found that shit! It’s 4 minutes & 55 seconds of all banger, no mash!
If you live in France I envy you because your bread tastes better than ours AND Kavinsy & SebastiAn are playing together at L’Ambassade on the 20th!
I can’t find the SebatiAn remix on vinyl anywhere (If anyone could point me in the right direction that’d be great), but you can purchase Kavinsky’s equally awesome ‘Teddy Boy EP’ from Sounds Of The Universe.
‘Kavinsky is a zombie in need of revenge, killed when he crashed his Ferrari Testarossa in 1986. His records are the story of his first steps in the world of the living dead.‘
Or, so the story goes. For being a dead kid, Kavinsky is a pretty snazzy dresser. I bet those vintage high top Nike’s he’s rocking go for at least a benjamin on the ebay. He’s produced some pretty sick beats & keeps pretty good company. Ed Banger’s Sebastian did a remix of Kavinsky’s ‘Testarossa Autodrive’ which is pretty ace. Pick it up if you can find it.
