Our boy, Scheme from the A+, Attorny Street blog and two-MCs-&-one-DJ trio, Old Money, whipped up this new track reppin’ gettin’ high and low in the Lower East Side on ‘L.E.S.’ The track, in two mixes, is produced by Black Cracker of CocoRosie and Bunny Rabbit (remember them?) production fame. First lady of Fool’s Gold and Chi-town native Kid Sister gets much love. She stays busy recording and touring with A-Trak, Kanye West, and bigger bro J2K of Flosstradamus.

But she’s not the only one keeping busy—for each bangin’ track there’s a handful of remixers eager to rip it apart and build it back up again. Enter TonyX of 1/2ALIVE crew. He’s been busy—besides throwing Vancouver’s freshest dance party called 1/2ALIVE, the dude chops a good beat. Try his take on ‘Control’ for size (with Eurythmics edit sprinkled in for emphasis).

I was having dinner with Dan Rumble, of RR fame, the other night when he told me he had the goods—a DJ friendly edit of Soulwax’s ‘Miserable Girl’ that takes the hypest elements of ‘Miserable girl’ and prolongs that feeling of electro-euphoria.

Besides being a no-holds-barred WWF Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Ultimate Warrior vs Hacksaw Jim Dougan slugfest, Royal Rumble is a raucous three-man gang of laptop DJs and producers from Los Angeles who are well posed to win that fashionable gold title belt, so to speak.

Here’s a pair of remixes Royal Rumble did with Kid Sister’s ‘Damn Girl’ that was commissioned by bigger bro(s) Flosstradamus. These really put the Too $hort sample on front street and we ain’t mad at it.

Royal Rumble has been one of the busier acts in the local electro/indie/hipster scene. But their calendar is looking sparse today, perhaps for the bigger and better things, like more production and bigger shows, like Dim Mak Records annual throwdown, Neighborhood Festival on Sept. 29th in Downtown L.A. …The Rumble will be there and they’re bringing so much laptop heat your nuts will go sterile (not really, homie, just a play on words).

Neighborhood Festival features other Missingtoof favorites The Faint, Crystal Castles, Kid Sister, Flosstradamus, Santogold, Spank Rock, Mickey Avalon and a grip of other notable names. Good eh? Tickets on sale, ya’herd?

Cool Kids hail from Chicago, Illinoise & bring that old school rap style back to the forefront. Aside from recently making it on to URB magazine’s next top 1000 artist list, they are talking with several labels including Fool’s Gold (home of A-Trak & Kid Sister) but have yet to sign with anyone. So like their song says, I’m sure they got a little bit of gold & a pager.

Chris over at gorilla vs. bear posted their track ‘Mikey Rocks’ earlier this week.
