M83- Saturdays=Youth

m83saturdays M83- Saturdays=Youth

Saturdays=Youth, the latest album offering from France’s M83, couldn’t have come out at a better time. It’s the perfect soundtrack for these beautiful Spring days & nights. Still apparent in M83’s sound is their ‘lush’ and ‘ethereal’ nod to “shoegaze”, but that’s not to say that this album is an ode to MBV or the like.

M83 have a refreshing, emotive, dreamy sound all their own, and have come up with an album one can easily lose themselves in. Saturdays=Youth was produced by Ken Thomas (known for his work with the likes of The Sugarcubes & Sigur Ros) & Ewan Pearson, remixer extraordinaire (Depeche Mode, Ladytron, The Rapture).

MP3: M83 - We Own The Sky

Saturdays=Youth drops this tuesday April 15th. Be sure to pick that up at your local record slangin’ shop. Stream other M83 goodies on his myspace page.

Halloween and horror inspire some great music. Here’s a few of my very favorite spooky tunes to get you in the mood. No ‘Thriller’ here—just rockabilly-punks The Cramps, shoegaze-y EDM Frenchies M83, composer for TV Milton DeLugg (covering TV composer Jack Marshall), Def-Juxian Hip Hop beatmaker RJD2, 80’s rap wiseguys DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, and a Cousin Cole and Flufftronix remix of a Misfits punk classic.

MP3: The Cramps - I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1980)

MP3: M83 - Car Chase Terror (2005)

MP3: Milton DeLugg - Munsters Theme (196x)

MP3: RJD2 - The Horror (2002)

MP3: DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Nightmare on my Street (1988)

MP3: Misfits - Halloween (Cousin Cole vs. Flufftronix Remix) (2006)

Spooky stuff. What are y’all going to be this year? I’m a dog that thinks he’s human. I’m also going as a beligerent drunk—but aren’t we all…
