marymoor-prettyday New Wave Tuesday: Mary Moor - Pretty Day

Today for New Wave Tuesday we have minimal-electro-synth gem Mary Moor’s ‘Pretty Day’. Sparse beats, macabre lyrics sprinkled with electronic accents. ADULT.’s ancestor? Pretty Day is not your traditional 80’s pop, new wave but it came out during the era where anything that used a synth was labeled as such. This single was produced in 1983 by Guillaume Loizillon & computer enthusiast Claude Micheli. These guys were using Casio tones & laser blips before most of today’s electro artist were in diapers.

The extremely rare 7″ of this track goes for 100 dollars & up on vinyl collector sites. Fortunately you can buy it on a newly released comp called ‘BIPPP - FRENCH SYNTH WAVE 1979/85‘. The comp is filled with hits that are underground like diamonds & stuff. Don’t sleep.
