Bay area native and hip hop hero, DJ Shadow has crafted a new soundscape for his home and ours, San Francisco. The song is part of Nokia’s currently running “What Does Your City Sound Like?” contest. DJ Shadow and Nokia are hosting a competition where you are you to capture the essence of a city in music. DJ Shadow sets the tone with the plainly titled, ‘San Francisco’.
If you want to submit your own city-inspired soundscape: Go to Nokiatrendslab.com, read the rules and submit your stuff by the May 19th, 4:00pm (GMT) deadline.
If you need inspiration, DJ Shadow has forever got you. Enjoy these epic favorites:
More of these party pictures (and some insane afterparty pictures) available at Frisco Disco Fever. This past weekends Frisco Disco had Glass Candy (Portland) heating up the house, expect pics from that shindig soonly. Our Blow Up parties take SF off the damn chains. Blow Up, Frisco Disco, and Robot Rock parties take it to 11 every time (know your Spinal Tap references?). We’ve recently had Justice, Uffie, Steve Aoki and are set to bring in The Glass and Pink Skull next time around on the 16th. Your hosts Frisco Disco Crew, Jeffrey Paradise (a.k.a. Jefrodisiac) & Richie Panic come to hit San Francisco upside the head. All of it’s captured by photographer Lady Meleksah and videographer Peter Noble.

Club paparazzi Vaindeer, Lady Meleksah & Silke Labson will be there to snap pictures of you having the time of your lives. Peter Noble will be there to capture the debauchery on video.

Should be a rager, call your boss right now & tell him you’re not coming in to work tomorrow.
Ida No & Johnny Jewel took the stage at the Knockout this Thursday & played to a packed house of fans. Ida’s haunting vocals were backed by Johnny’s masterful fingers on his Korg MS 2000 and a trusty drum machine. For lack of a better description & due to this massive hangover I’m nursing I’m going to take the easy way out and say the show was nothing short of super duper amazing!
Here’s some pics of the show which can describe a million times better than my 6th grade level vernacular can.
What are you guys doing this weekend? Writing hate mail to your parents? Fulfilling your community service hours? Well, I’m raiding my piggybank and heading out to this:
If any of you guys live in the area & feel like giving a player a ride, I got a dollar on it & I’ll promise not to hit on your little sister.
(RCHRD OH?! of Bigstereo.net posted this yesterday, but I gotta get up on this too!)
San Francisco’s golden child, my friend & one of my favorite dj’s, SLEAZEMORE drops a new mix for all your grimey asses. The Florida native relocated to San Francisco a little over a year ago & quickly became a staple in the disco/dance scene which is hard to do in a city like SF which is literally littered with hungry, talented & established djs. He’s performed along side the Presets, Phones, Matthew Dear, Junior Sanchez, & Paparazzi (to name a few) & will be throwing a dope set to warm everyone up for the Ed Banger tour on March 24th at the Mezzanine.
