Sébastien Tellier, that French craftsman of sound, has created what amounts to one of the year’s first outstanding albums. With his third long player album, ‘Sexuality’, Tellier makes sensual and airy electronica with hints of French pop and a heavy dose of traditional singer/songwriter crooning. It’s Classic Tellier, and the first we’ve heard from the maestro since the Steak film score we touched on last year. More notches in the ever fuller discography of Sébastien Tellier, get fully acquainted at Discogs.

Oh, and is it worth mentioning that the ‘Sexuality’ LP is produced by the man behind the mask, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, better known as 1/2 of Daft Punk? Yes? Thought so.

Enjoy these choice cuts among an album of choice cuts. The advance album has been in my playlist almost daily for over a month now:

Wow, it’s like sex for your ear with no messy cleanup! But, baby, we ain’t pulled out yet. Get a load of this mix by frequent collaborator, SebastiAn, of Ed Banger fame, provides a signature choppy electrofied remix of the fashionable ‘Sexual Sportswear’:

The album ‘Sexuality’ will be released this upcoming Monday, February 25th, on the premier label of French band AIR, Record Makers.
But before you go, for shits and giggles, and ’cause we all stay gully, here’s a mash-up from one of the few folks who’s mash-ups we always dig—The Hood Internet—fitting that #1 stunna by the name, Birdman, into some snug ‘Sexual Sportswear’:

What’s this, a new Ed Banger leak?! A great discovery to wake up to. EB’s SebastiAn wowed bloggers and club goer’s across the globe with various singles & his 2007 release ‘Ross Ross Ross’. Looks like he’s gearing up to wow us all again. This is a leaked track, ,which is untitled at this point and most likely unfinished, but it’s still got our vote. Or friend and quick on the draw remix master Ryan Justin, has created an edit of SebastiAn’s new track as well. Check them both out.

MP3: SebastiAn – Untitled

On a semi related Eb Banger/remix note, California boy Flying Lotus has unofficially chopped & screwed Mr. Oizo’s ‘Stunt’ into a new creation.

You can go drool over various Ed Banger merchandise on their official seller’s site, Arcade Mode. Ryan Justin has made plenty of fresh beats, check his webby. Flying Lotus recently signed to Warp Records & has a new album out titled ‘Reset’ which you can purchase from here.

Sooo, there was a little secret Ed Banger party in West Hollywood tonight at the infamous Viper Room, courtesy of Scion and Vice. In addition to Busy P, Kavinsky and SebastiAn, Justice decided to make an unannounced appearance, which is always nice. Thanks to Busy P for flying the boys in between their gig in Japan and their gig in Finland! With so much of the Ed Banger roster in the house they made it a fun rotation—DJing their signature sound with their tried and true CDJ setup.

Our boy C-Town also DJ’d the opening slot—just after conducting interviews with the Ed Banger gang. The transcription of that meeting is sure to show up in his little monthly rag called, Anthem Magazine. Just like his recent cover-story interview with Daft Punk that’s on news stands now in the current issue (with a Daft Punk photography spread shot by Hedi Slimane, which is breathtaking).

This right here is a music blog so let’s have some music! We love Edward Banger. We’re so friendly we call ‘em Ed. You like remixes, let’s do this! The most serious answer I can think of is to party everyday and you'll end up making some electro hipster friends who'll likely pass the word... alternatively, just lurk on the forums and blogs were electro hipsters hang out. That's probably the easiest way.

Can barely believe it, but I’m still alive. Survived the incredible weekend in one piece & didn’t wake up in any holding tanks. Gotta give a big thanks to Lori at MAS-Fovever, Throne Of Blood and XLR8R for hooking up the pair of tickets to the Daft Punk /Rapture / Kavinsky / SebastiAn show at the Greek Theater this Friday. Shit was mind blowing, earth shattering & life changing!

And the after party was INSANE as well! The line up was Jefrodisiac & Richie Panic (Blow Up / Frisco Disco) The Throne Of Blood Crew & Ed Banger boys Kavinsky & SebastiAn. Despite the mass amounts of alcohol consumed the memories made that night will not soon be forgot.

If any of y’all were at either the show or the after party or both, let us know what you thought & if you got pics, POST ‘em in the comments!

Zhiguli sent us a pair of mash-ups created within their ‘Distortion Disco Mix’ we posted last month (get it from the archive). Good mixes are made from good parts, now you can get at the building blocks.

Remember SebastiAn’s remix of Kavinsky’s ‘Testerosa Overdrive’ mashed with David Byrne’s ‘Lazy’—’member how sick it sounds! This mash-up was my personal highlight of the ‘Distortion Disco Mix’ and now it’s bite-sized:

MP3: Kavinsky vs SebastiAn vs David Byrne – Lazy Testarossa (Zhiguli Mix) [recommended]

Also, get the O.G. version of Kavinsky ‘Testerosa Overdrive (SebastiAn Remix)’ in our archive.

K. Moving on to the next bite-size morsel, Felix Cartal’s ‘Moss vs. Tree’ mashed with Mo Do’s ‘Eins, Zwei, Polizei’:

Get at Zhiguli on MySpace and, if you happen to be part of the tiny demographic of readers in the Ukraine, go catch ‘em at a show.

Mr. Oizo, and team, have been very busy.

‘Steak’, a feature film by director Quentin Dupieux, which will be released in France on June 20th, seems promising. The score is a collaborative project between Sébastien Tellier, Mr. Oizo & SebastiAn. You can learn more about the film from IMDb and watch the trailer (in French) on YouTube.

Considering that I don’t understand French too well, the score is the main attraction. And I think I’m with Monsieur P that ‘Chivers as a Female’ is the stand out track:

MP3: Sébastien Tellier, Mr. Oizo & SebastiAn – Chivers as a Female

More delicious ‘Steak’:

MP3: Sébastien Tellier, Mr. Oizo & SebastiAn – Steakskate

MP3: Sébastien Tellier, Mr. Oizo & SebastiAn – Ringardos

If you love it, you can download a couple more tracks and see the full tracklisting at Boule a Facettes blog and stream yet even more tracks from the official ‘Steak’ MySpace.

Pre-order the ‘Steak’ soundtrack at Amazon.fr (France). It’s going to be imprinted on Ed Banger Records, so I’m sure people in the US will get their change to grab a copy real soon.

Mr. Oizo is already on a roll. He produced Uffie’s new single, ‘First Love’, which is getting mixed comments from you guys (i.e. our readership), but I don’t think anyone can hate on the production! Remember that Oizo is the dude that produced Uff’s first single ‘Pop the Glock’ and that’s certified club banger electro masterpiece. Of course, y’all can get acquainted or re-acquainted with those two track in our ‘Uffie’ archives (don’t forget to add to the comments if you got an opinion!).

In addition to the soon to be dropped ‘Steak’, Mr. Oizo dropped his newest EP, titled, ‘Patrick 1222 / Transexual’ last week, also on Ed Banger Records. Enjoy the signature sound:

MP3: Mr. Oizo – Patrick 122

MP3: Mr. Oizo – Blind Concert

Order the new EP through Arcade Mode in Europe and soon in the US through Turntable Lab.

Catch up with Mr. Oizo on his MySpace or secondary remix only MySpace.

Lastly, go through the older Mr. Oizo stuff on Amazon and make sure your collection is on point, because dude is important and your friends will clown if you don’t have all of these in your stacks.

Uffie is TERRIBLE! Without her beats she would be a wacker version of Northern State (which was trash already). Oizo is more 'glitch' than anything, but this Steak score sounds really interesting...

On June 15, 2007, modernaire said:
I love Oizo, always have. The extended edit of Patrick122 is bliss. And it pisses me off how everyone hates on Uffie. Saying stuff like "She can't rap!" is insane and totally misses the point.

Everyone’s been asking how the Ed Banger party was, but needless to say it was nothing short of outstanding. Words could not even describe the events that took place that night. Our parents have Styx tickets forever framed in their scrapbooks, our generation will have yellowing Justice ticket stubs to show off to our grandchildren.

Here’s a video clip from the night that will live on in infamy. Video by Peter Noble of TheGentleKing.com who is SF’s premier dance party videographer.

The fabulous frenchies played insane re-edits of all the Ed Banger classics & dance faves like Gossip & Green Velvet. Then they dipped in to some old school cuts, such as Rage Against the Machine which had everyone in the crowd chanting ‘This is for the people of the sun’! Then they pulled out all the stops & threw on some old school rave cuts. I was pretty toasty by this time, but I swear they played 1995’s ‘Are Am Eye’ a.k.a. NOOM 13.

Anyone else remember this track?! It was either this or Nuclear Hyde or an Ed Banger re-edit of one of the two?!. If it was in fact this track, The EB’s brought the track in at the break around (4:15)

This shit is mad old so might have to dig in some crates to find it, or find a record collector who has one (like me!). Sometimes copies pop up on ebay. If you have a copy that you want to sell HTFR.COM will buy it off you.

I have crates of nukleuz blue/purple/green, tidy, stimulant, etc.. tracks that I would love to break out again one day. Though where I am (Atlanta) is barely at a point of liking even the most popular ed banger type stuff, so I don't really ever see that happening around here.

On March 28, 2007, disaster said:
ha, i still have all my old shit, tidy traxx, playtpus, ,positiva, red alert, noom, i think i'ma post some nostrum stuff later, see what fools think!

I'm going to play the special bootleg version of it though. It's called Noom A and combines Are Am Eye with the Millennium strings from James Bond (Robbie Williams used them too). I wish I had a digital copy of it though. Would love to sample that breakdown and use it in something else.

On March 29, 2007, disaster said:
haaa! i remember that shit! i don't got it, but i know who probably has it on vinyl!

On March 30, 2007, Stephan Tual said:
Awesome night.
