Not intended to feature the latest music out there, my ‘Pick of the Week’ is to simply share & highlight music I personally enjoy regardless of timeframe. This weeks pick is Public Image Ltd.’s album ‘Second Edition’.
Public Image Ltd. (PiL for short) was formed by Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon after they disbanded. ‘Second Edition’ was PiL’s second album (originally released as ‘Metal Box’ in a metal film canister on 3 12″s).
This is the soundtrack for those gloomy days, as Lydon’s detached, anxious vocals and somber lyrics, combined with the stark, austere sound of the rest of the band make for quite a listening experience.
We ain’t done some shout outz in daaaays. It’s time we got back in the business of doing that, cuz there’s a buncha blogs out there that are on point. One of which is a brand new one done by graphic artist RA909 of electriksuicide.com who has recently done work for Le CastleVania, The Police & Burton Snowboards.
Aside from being an excellent graphic artist, he’ got an exceptional ear for music as well. visit his new blog which is both visually & aurally appealing.
& blog masters of the universe 20JFG are consistently breaking new artist & tunes on to the scene. These guys are THE tastemakers. If you don’t have them bookmarked or don’t subscribe to their feed, you need to fix that.
Last week they posted two tracks from the Chromatics forth coming CD. This is a different version of ‘Hands in The Dark’ than the one that appeared on the tour CDR they were distributing at their shows last year.
Another artist they broke was Norway’s Skatebard. They posted ‘Love Attack’ last year, But now they are posting the vocal version of the track. It’s a must have.
