Le Castle Vania remixes Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Zero’ into ‘Zero Machine’

ATL come L.A. DJ/Producer Le Castle Vania has earned a reputation for whipping crowds into a frenzy, no doubt aided by this staple of his sets, the hard-as-fucking-nails electro track, ‘Zero Machine’ that samples (or remixes, if you prefer) the alternative gods, The Smashing Pumpkins, classic, ‘Zero’. If last year was all about Mr. Oizo’s RATM remix (or was it, Patrick Alavi’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ (here) remix instead?), this year is all about:

Also new in the Le Castle Vania repository is this collaboration with Birmingham (but soon to be L.A.) party monster, Computer Club. Computer Club shot this over to us before his recent string of L.A. dates, including Nocuturnal Wonderland (where he straight murdered it). Nod to event coordinators like Insomniac who have, in the last year, let this indie-electro-blog-house thing get a massive stage of their own and fill it with global players. It’s fun to be along for the ride as a genre goes from fledgling to full-fledged—But I digress… Here’s Le Castle Vania & Computer Club:

Yo, so why’s it called ‘The Messiah’ (Besides the potentially obvious, it being a straight-up cover of Renegade Hardware junglist, Konflict’s 2000 track, ‘Messiah’), here’s one you might not know, from way back to 2003, when Le Castle Vania was Messiah-1, drum’n'bass producer and operator of his own short-lived label Negaverse Recordings. The release is a tune is ‘Relic’ which got a properly massive remix by L.A.’s Gridlok and the original ‘Red Dust’. Strictly jungle (the crazy bass drops are all about half-way in):

Boh! If you love it, know that we love it too. If you don’t, go kick rocks. Or, maybe give this other contemporary Le Castle Vania a try, as remixed by L.A.’s top-shelf’s LA Riots:

Hey you, yea you… We’re piggybacking off the last post featuring Paparazzi’s remix of Kill The Noise, with this, Paparazzi co-conspirator and ALT-to-LA transplant, Le Castle Vania’s take on KTN’s ‘Hey You’. Le Castle Vania gives some hard electro frequencies and atmospheric bridges for the big room riiiiinse out.

MP3: Kill The Noise - Hey You (Le Castle Vania Remix)

And here’s some more stuff we seriously slept on sharing, Le Castle Vania’s collaboration with Blake Miller of dance-rock stronghold Moving Units, collectively knows as Lies in Disguise. The duo hit on something great with their first remix for London electro kids, PARTYSHANK, on ‘Penis VS Vagina’ late last year and again, recently, with their remix of masked Frenchman The Toxic Avenger’s electro-thrasher ‘Poker Face’.

Now listen to it again, twice as loud. Tinnitus ain’t all that bad.

Classixx (formerly Young Americans): ‘Cold Get Ill’ + ‘Dial 1′ / Remixes of Shiny Toy Guns & Hellogoodbye

classixx Classixx (formerly Young Americans): Cold Get Ill + Dial 1 / Remixes of Shiny Toy Guns & Hellogoodbye

L.A.’s Classixx ain’t nothing new, they’re they same old Young Americans with the same old wicked-fresh dance music. They just had a lawsuit-inspired Jenny Jones makeover. Let’s have some applause for the new style. Fresh from the beat-oven cooked up with classic Roxanne Shante sample-seasonings on ‘Cold Get Ill’:

These radio edits are great for all for all intents and purposes and, we’re told, aren’t much different from the future releases that will appear shortly on House-hero DJ Dan’s record imprint Instereo. That release will be available on Beatport. Beyond that, Classixx have signed to So Sweet Records and will be dropping something fuller in ‘08.

I like many came to Young Americans through their awesome 2006 track, ‘Turning Inside Out’. As fresh as ever:

As are these official remixes for L.A.’s electro-indie superstars, Shiny Toy Guns and LBC Indie-pop phenom Hellogoodbye:

MP3: Shiny Toy Guns - Starts with One (Young Americans Remix)

MP3: Hellogoodbye - Here (In Your Arms) (Young Americans Remix)

Classixx throw a little L.A. party every now and again called Hush Hush. It’s a good time, just like the party we’re supporting tonight, Fucking Awesome at Beauty Bar in Hollywood. Also on the decks is recently mentioned Surkin and Skeet Skeet.

Stop begging for more like Oliver, help yourself in our Classix / Young Americans archive where you’ll hear remixes of ATL electro-king Le Castle Vania and Dim Mak rockstars Scanners.
