While on a train ride from Portland to Seattle, Them Jeans made a nice mellow remix for Sigur Rós‘ track, ‘Illgresi’, taken from their brand new album, ‘Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust’. (Translated in English for those of you [like me] who can’t speak Icelandic: ‘With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly’)
This makes for a nice little summer jam and goes well next to some Lali Puna & M83.
But she’s not the only one keeping busy—for each bangin’ track there’s a handful of remixers eager to rip it apart and build it back up again. Enter TonyX of 1/2ALIVE crew. He’s been busy—besides throwing Vancouver’s freshest dance party called 1/2ALIVE, the dude chops a good beat. Try his take on ‘Control’ for size (with Eurythmics edit sprinkled in for emphasis).
Lastly (but not leastly), our L.A. homie Them Jeans of Cinespace fame recently put together this little new wave’d blend of Sis’s ‘Pro Nails’ and The Outrunners ‘Cool Feeling’.
Them Jeans sent us his ‘Lloyd - Get it Shawty (T-Wrecks Bmore Mix)/ Yuksek - Composer’ blend from his Discobelle mix from last month. We’ve been sitting on this thing for way longer than I meant to and lost all exclusive rights, but ah well! It’s Discobelle’s to begin with and you likely snagged it off Discobelle when they posted the blend earlier this month. Or you should have; their blog and the track are top notch.
What it is Ma? What it do? It is the radio-friendly R&B track, ‘Get It Shawty’ by Lloyd featuring Yung Joc treated to a Baltimore Club mixdown by T-Wrecks of Stylusts Crew (2006 DMC Canada Team Turntable Champions). And what it do is blends perfectly with French club music extraordinare Yuksek’s ‘Composer’. The first two add up to the third. It’s math, homie. Get yer learn on:
I’m excited for this. The homie Them Jeans, who we’ve already featured in this post, throws this weekly club in Hollywood and it’s always the heat—and that’s exactly why I’ve been there more Tuesdays over the last 3 years than I’ve not been there. You should go too if you’re able, like tonight. You can’t argue with the line up, and if you get there early there’s free booze it’s a breeze to get in. If you can’t make it, Trash Fashion is doing more Cali dates in San Diego and San Francisco before their return to their UK home. Dates and info for all these artists can be found in the links at the bottom.
And truth be told, I’m very obsessed with Does It Offend You, Yeah? (Good Weather for Airstrikes can bring you up to speed with their artist profile). Their essential “We Are Rockstars” has been a dance party requirement for months and months on end and we’re still not sick of it. Not even slightly.

Antimc of Palms Out Sound & Jason Stewart a.k.a. Them Jeans dropped this epic remix of Europe’s The Final Countdown in December. We grabbed it then, but it got lost amongst the slew of other stuff that was coming down the pipeline at that time. However, thanks to the shuffle feature on iTunes we were reminded of it’s existence. And what a hard hitting existence it is. I’ve had this bad boy on repeat since it’s rediscovery. You will too.
I know it may seem like we give more shout out than a rapper on an award show but we gotta take care of our peeps, dogg. Lately the citizens of the internet have been showing us nothing but love & of course naked pictures of celebs. It’s time to return the favor (minus the noodz).
First off, I have a new found favorite blog. Stockholm Beat Connection has only been around for 2 short months but already clocking in almost 50 posts! That’s dedication. These boys are blogging & they are blogging hard. Exclusive remixes and mash ups I have not seen anywhere else such as this inventive mash up which uses raunchy rapper Khia’s ‘My Neck and My Back’ on top of France’s Ferrari driving zombie, Kavinsky’s Testarossa Autodrive.
Also, A few more blogs came tunneling out of the internet’s uterus & into the blogosphere recently. One blog of note is San Francisco’s The Workout. Which is also a cleverly named dance event. One of the contributors to the blog is Baron Von Luxxury, DJ & member of the disco dance band Luxxury who have been called “A nastier, sleazier Scissor Sisters” by New Noise, London.
Check their blog for mash ups & mixes not found anywhere else. And check their myspace for tantalizing pictures of Olivia Newton John & Jaime Lee Curtis sporting the best jazzercise attire. If you live in the bay, ‘The Workout’ dance event goes down on the 21st.
Another bay are blog New Rave Disco gave us a shout out yesterday. This blog is also new, but unlike us is extremely well written. They also know their shit when it comes to music. Keep your eye on them like you do your 17 year old neighbor.
And we’ve been getting some linkage love from all over the place. Aussie blog Team StreetParty acknowledges our love for Crystal Castles. & A blog Soup writes a blurb about us that brings a tear to our eye.
Thanks again internet. We love you for all that you do for us & for all the time you help us kill at work. Speaking of love & work, I’m loving the work of Canadian artist/filmer/photographer Sean Sader. Check out his new skate video DOT The I Cross The OTH. & Sean, your girlfriend want you to know that she loves you very much.
