Unsigned Hype: Ka So Re ‘Dramatically Keep You’ & ‘Greetings’

Ka So Re is the new production project of our favorite Finnish DJ, Kimarr, of ‘Pose It Up’ mixtape fame. Since arriving in our playlist last week, these tracks have really grown on us. It’s modest electro with modern hard hitting baselines and roots digging directly into classic ’80s electro stylings (OMG vocoders! Let’s boogaloo! Now!). The production is crisp for the bedroom, the dive bar, and the big room with the sound activated lazers. Say “Greetings” to Ka So Re:

Igor “Iggor” Cavalera, famed ex-drummer (and founding member) of Brazillian Death Metal band Sepultura and his wife/producer Laima Leyton are Mixhell.

Iggor left Sepultura in June of 2006 and took on another life as a Electronic Music DJ and producer. So, can one of the best drummers in the world bang out a electro beat on an MPC? Fuck yes! Get a load of these Mixhell produced MSTRKRFT remixes (96kbps):

Mixhell has been getting around in Europe, opening for the some of the most important names in electronic music, like Daft Punk, Soulwax and Simian Mobile Disco.

We’d first heard of Mixhell from our boys at Stochholm Beat Connection, who have been giving Mixhell a hell of a push and getting some love in return. Mixhell gave SBC an exclusive mix back in May, but I’m passing it along—because no really good mixtape stays unduplicated! Here is the stolen goods (oh, what a gulity pleasure!); Enjoy Mixhell’s ‘Electro Banger Ghetto Thrash’ mix.

Unsigned Hype: Fluffy Target

As promised, in the previous Avenue D post, we have more Fluffy Target, our favorite sex’d up indie duo in Berlin. How sex’d up are they? Very! How indie are they? Very! So sex’d up they probably reek from all the sexy sex they get and so indie they don’t even have an indie label! Being without a label hasn’t clipped their wings a bit, they’re flying high with great production, fun songs and have done that fantastic remix for Avenue D and have been remixed by the sex’d up Princess Superstar, DJs Are Not Rockstars, and the Belgian stronghold, Das Pop. Fluffy Target slid me their full-length demo via snail mail (mad Euros in postage, how nice!) and it’s been in heavy in the rotation at my house for sure—I wish some nice label would come along and help the world hear it! Here’s a teaser until that happens. I present one of their original tracks and a remix of it:

Also, the Avenue D remix that we’ve previously posted:

You can hear more Fluffy Target by visiting their MySpace page or stream their whole demo on this page.

P.S. Oh and Fluffy Target is actually the side project of some very established DJ/producers with many albums and credits under their collective belt. Look up the names Richard Cameron & Achim Treu if you’re truly curious, you’ll find some more good music.
