The Frenchies & The Americans were not the only ones who partook in the New Wave movement. Mecano was a Spanish speaking synth pop group formed in Madrid in 1981. Shortly after forming they achieved wide-spread popularity in their home country & other Spanish speaking nations. But it wasn’t until their 1986 album that they were album to gain international success.
Mecano was also a the name of a Dutch New Wave band founded in 1977 by Dirk Polak which is even harder to find tracks from.

Oh my god! Mecano in Spain is very mainstream and cheesy…now on Gran Via St, our Brodway, is a Mecano a musical callled “Hoy no me puedo levantar” as another of the big hits of mecano.
