No, but seriously, Tronik Youth makes some of the hardest electro beats coming out of UK, or anywhere. Pretty sweet if you ask us. And we’re glad to see that robot chick from the old A Tribe Called Quest albums getting work again. ;)

Tronik Youth, released his ‘We Are’ single last year on Back Yard Recordings. addition to a wildin’ remix by Italian techno-wreckers Franz & Shape (who Tronik Youth has also remixed, in addition to being remixed).

Tronik Youth has also done some nice remixes, including this new one for Nottingham Indie sensation Late of the Pier (who we haven’t mentioned in way too long), an official b-side remix of Gossip’s break out single ‘Standing in the Way of Control’, which we think still has a lot of shelf life left, and this interesting bootleg remix of Post Punk icons Joy Division (a nice follow up to last week’s Sisters of Mercy remix post here. Gothtronix for ‘08, y’all).

The Gossip post redux! Last month we got excited and posted a high-quality track (with the player move) a little too early and had to pull it down (see post). Well, now it’s all smoothed over and this track deserves one more go around. It’s L.A.’s Guns’N'Bombs take on ‘Yr Mangled Heart’, released on Back Yard Recordings:

How awesome is that? Gossip’s vocalist Beth Ditto is a soulful rocker who just happens to lend herself perfectly to dance music too. So well in fact, that we can’t stop there—here’s another pair of licks off the ‘Yr Mangled Heart’ singles that comes from electro kingpin and Montreal native Tiga and Guildford, UK houser Si McEvoy. Gossip’s Standing In The Way of Control (Soulwax Nite version) came out over a year ago but track still get dropped regularly in DJ’s sets across the nation. It was believed that that remix was the remix to end all remixes. However, Johnny Love & Turbotito of LA based Guns N Bombs have put the forks in another Gossip remix that gives SITWOC some stiff competition.

‘Yr Mangled Heart‘ is just as soulful as any other Gossip song and with Beth Ditto belting out the high’s on top of the pulsing bassline; it’s damn near perfection.

If you’ve got an ex, leave this on their answering machine and make them all melancholy and nostalgic for your relationship. And if they call you back, immediately hang up. Player shit.

Had a fantastic weekend, how about y’all? We caught the Crystal Castles show at the Mezzanine this Saturday and, damn. They sound even more amazing live than their studio recordings. The Toxic Avenger, Frankie Chan, Lemonade & Richard Oh?! and Miss Toats held down the rest of the evening superbly.

The good times came to a screeching halt when the alarm clock went off this morning. I rolled out of bed, grabbed the first pair of slacks I could find on the floor and stumbled in to the office today. I am currently sitting at my desk crying on the inside. The voicemail light is flashing and my outlook inbox is full of unread items which I’m desperately trying to avoid. God, I wish I was still at home under the covers. Here’s some covers of a different kind that I wish we could all cuddle together underneath, but responsibility calls.

It’s Friday afternoon. I’m at work looking more disheveled than usual. I’m hungover. Which is par for the course on Fridays. However, this is no ordinary hangover. This is one of those super heavy duty hangovers. I consumed so much alcohol last night I think if I were to cry (which I might) vodka would probably come out.

Yes, I am wearing the same thing I wore to work yesterday. Yes, I’m a little hung over. And yes, The Gossip cd is a year old today & i’m still posting tracks from it.

Whatcha gonna do?

The Gossip’s music is so good & strangely uplifting. Almost makes me forget this hang over. Almost. Coffee, stale break room doughnuts & this song are the only thing Keeping me alive right now.
