DJ Paparazzi remixes Kill The Noise ‘Hey You’ & Hearts Revolution ‘CYAO!’ / Johnny Cash ‘Get Rhythemz’ edit

A staple of the L.A. club scene, DJ Paparazzi is DJ, producer, arranger and club promoter.

Until yesterday, the last we’ve heard from the man was his ‘Yummy Knockout’ edit of Gwen Stefani’s ‘Yummy’ which smashes it up against Cirez D’s (a.k.a. Eric Prydz) ‘Knockout’. We threw that little jam on this here blog not once but twice.

But this is today, and Paparazzi has shared with us his newest remixes—putting his twist on two of our the best things out there: Rochester NY’s finest club wrecker Kill The Noise and the ice creamy, dreamy, LA to NY electro punks Hearts Revolution. Epic win.

MP3: Hearts Revolution - CYAO (Paparazzi Remix)

Paparazzi is resident DJ and ringleader at club DANCE at one of LA’s Arena in Los Angeles. It’s a lax 18+ to dance, 21+ to drink. Admittedly, the soundsystem is one of L.A.’s very best. If your curious peep the club’s MySpace or the official site, DanceAtArena.com for mo’ info & club photos.

Let me wrap this up with Paparazzi edit of the late great country & western hero Johnny Cash’s ‘Get Rhythm’ from 2006. Get yr toes tappin’ to teh rhythemzzz.

Sebastien Tellier ‘Sexuality’ album produced by Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo: ‘Kilometer’, ‘Pomme’ & ‘Sexual Sportswear’ with SebastiAn remix

Sébastien Tellier, that French craftsman of sound, has created what amounts to one of the year’s first outstanding albums. With his third long player album, ‘Sexuality’, Tellier makes sensual and airy electronica with hints of French pop and a heavy dose of traditional singer/songwriter crooning. It’s Classic Tellier, and the first we’ve heard from the maestro since the Steak film score we touched on last year. More notches in the ever fuller discography of Sébastien Tellier, get fully acquainted at Discogs.

Oh, and is it worth mentioning that the ‘Sexuality’ LP is produced by the man behind the mask, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, better known as 1/2 of Daft Punk? Yes? Thought so.

Enjoy these choice cuts among an album of choice cuts. The advance album has been in my playlist almost daily for over a month now:

But before you go, for shits and giggles, and ’cause we all stay gully, here’s a mash-up from one of the few folks who’s mash-ups we always dig—The Hood Internet—fitting that #1 stunna by the name, Birdman, into some snug ‘Sexual Sportswear’:

Mia vs Lil Jon vs Ciara - Me & U Throwing Paper Planes (Kimarr edit)

I was cruising through the Missingtoof dental records the other day and came across Finnish DJ/Producer Kimarr’s ‘Pose It Up’ series of mixtapes and found myself poppin’ and lockin’ to the old mixes which can still hold their own amongst some mixes made last week.

Then I got to thinkin’ ‘Damn, what happened to homie? Did he find some other blog to give all his lovin’ to?’ I cried into my pillow for a bit and three hours I hear a ding from the inbox and to my shock & surprise there was this brand new mash by Kimarr!

It contains some new and old and by the end, it chops up to Baltimore.
Check.

Kimarr assures us that Pose It Up Volume 4 is in the works and you know we will have that ish first on the ‘Toof. Dig into the Missingtoof guts for the previous Pose It Up mixes. Holla at Kimar though his myspace or on his official site.

Emo Thug 2 mixed by DJ Morsy

NYC’s DJ Morsy picked a hilarious name for his latest project which started out as a joke but turned into to something completely fun. This is the second installment in the ‘Emo Thug’ series which is mainstream hip hop lyrics thrown on top of that indie/electro shit we love. It’s been done before, yes, but we love it. I never tire of seeing home dudes in t-skirts doing the “lean back” to some electro shit.

It looks as though the folks over at URB magazine were feeling it too; ‘Emo Thug 2′ got a write up in the last issue.

This cut is from ‘Emo Thug’ volume one:

Here’s another good CC related track. Leif, half of Aries Noise and contributor at ChazBlog put together a little mash-up EP last month and it’s kinda fucking excellent. We posted a couple tracks before and told you where to grab the whole thing, but this mash-up of Crystal Castles and Aries Noise deserves more push:

Visit Crystal Castles on their Myspace and alternative MySpace. Their awaited vinyl release for ‘Crimewave’ (b/w ‘xxxcuse me’) with HEALTH drops mid-August and you can get it from Trouble Records in the US and from Rough Trade Shops in the UK.

DJ Paul V.: Yo Majesty vs. Depeche Mode vs. Bag Raiders vs. Dirty South

DJ Paul V. is kind of an authority on mash-ups. What makes him an authority? Perhaps because he does a little mash-up heavy program for (arguably the coolest radio station in the world) Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles. The show is The Smash Mix! airing every Friday afternoon at 5:30 and, alternatively, downloadable over the internet by visiting the site (as well as streamable from the Indie 103.1 Smash Mix page). Always something fun going on over there!

Paul V. sent us this mash-up which he is particularly proud of, and works very well. It’s a blend of Yo Majesty’s ‘Club Action’, as remixed by Bag Raiders (which also uses some of Enya’s ‘Orinoco Flow [Sail Away]’) smashed with Depeche Mode’s ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ as remixed by Dirty South.

Sounds great, although I must admit when the Enya part finally drops it’s a little abrupt in contrast with all the, ‘fuck that shit, nigga!’. But we love abrupt, that’s why we like love ‘fuck that shit’ chorus in the first place!:

MP3: Yo Majesty vs. Depeche Mode - Just Can’t Get Club Action (DJ Paul V. Mix)

Before we move on, give a listen to the building blocks of the track above:

MP3: Yo Majesty - Club Action (Chris Bagraiders Sailing to Baltimore Edit)

MP3: Depeche Mode - Just Can’t Get Enough (Dirty South Remix)

Now, here’s another one of his most recent mashes, which takes Lil’ Mama’s ‘Lip Gloss’ and glazes it over the classic tune, ‘Tequila’ by The Champs (a listen will likely bring up fond memories of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure):

MP3: Lil’ Mama vs. The Champs - Tequila Lip Gloss (DJ Paul V. Mix)

DJ Paul V. also does the Neon Noise radio show on Indie 103.1 every Saturday night (midnight-3am); It’s a mix of all sorts of tracks you’d probably love, check program’s page on Indie’s site here and know that you can stream the show live from the website!

Paul V. doesn’t quit there, he is also a regular at the monthly mash-up party, Bootie LA, as well as the resident DJ of L.A.’s longest-running underground dance club, Dragstrip 66. And, lastly, of course, he has a MySpace.
