Photograph credit: Oh SnapSpringboarding off the previous article all about KILL THE NOISE—in a decided one-two punch of up-and-coming hard-hitting US dance music—here’s something from one of the best there is, Atlanta-based producer/DJ, and newest Fool’s Gold signee, Treasure Fingers.
First dive into this little mix for In-DEED radio on XM Radio station XMU. It was recorded December 26th, but the expiration date is blank on this stay-fresh pac (hell we’re still listening to his ‘40 Minutes in the Champagne Room’ from July, that we nicked from BigStereo). The In-DEED mix contains many unreleased gems from KILL THE NOISE and other talented folks. KTN’s ‘Hey You’ is sassy and sets the bar high from the needle droppppp.
Tracklist:

We’ve slept on giving this dude his proper press (regretfully, we sleep on quite a bit)! There’s a good chance at least some of these are in your playlist already, but if not, get knowin’, cause Treasure Fingers is making some of the most danceable records around. This blog-hit got around in ‘07 but ‘08 promises a proper Fool’s Gold release with a B-side full of hot remixes. The undeniable ‘Cross The Dancefloor’ (with ‘Come True Tonight’ for good measure):

Now for remixes. Look, if dude can do this to BEP chick come pop-diva/chickenhead Fergie, he can do anything. Further proof in the form of a pair of remixes from ATL electro-pop band One Hand Loves The Other.

Credit well deserved & overdue! This man is also 1/3 of the elite drum ‘n bass trio, Evol Intent (A friend talented bunch of producers. A 2/3 of that trio is Dj Knick who also is 1/2 of Ludachrist. Their insane mashup mix was featured here sometime ago. Check it!). Nothing less expected than gems from this man.
The Come True Tonight track I believe was sampled from Zapp & Rogers “I Wanna Be Your Man”
@ K•Bear:
Treasure Fingers, Kill The Noise, Villains, & LA Riots are all drum’n'bass producers and have that affinity for each other. (I think Hot Pink Delorean and probably some others are also DnB heads).
smokin
bumpsdick-
Yes, Hot Pink Delorean is also a dnb crew. They are located in Boston, and have been going under the name “Terra Vita”. I think they work (own?) a record shop in Boston.
Yeah, I also think it’s funny that alot of dnb people are getting into the electro game (being one myself). I didn’t know that Villains and LA Riots were also junglists. Personally, I believe that dnb producers are very engineering oriented. Treasure Fingers aka Knick is a really talented producer. So this shows in their final products.
I believe Knick also has a downtempo side project.
Don’t mean to correct you, but Treasure Fingers is actually not Knick. Although they are both part of the same of the dnb collective, Evol Intent, AJ know as The Enemy is actually Treasure Fingers. Knick however is part of Ludachrist. Kill the Noise also known by his dnb moniker as Ewun is the other half of Ludachrist. I’m still trying to figure out who the Villains & LA Riots dnb alias are.
I think it’s great that a whole crop of these dnb producers are taking a stab at electro, myself included after my recent trip to Europe & being infected by the bug. I see the natural progression. The new slew of electro coming is has just dirty, distored synth sounds, basslines & sometimes producing in one tempo can get redundant & limiting.
1/2 of LA Riots is Orion.
The Villains were just local dnb DJs AFAIK…
@ electrostep:
The other half of LA Riots, Daniel, mentioned once that he was in Mathematics. I dunno if it’s the NY crew: Mathematics.
Jon from LA Riots goes under the name Orion for DnB and his downtempo project Edison Gem. MAD V from Villains was a local LA dnb dj/producer under the name Poise. He also owns a dnb label Time Wave Audio that had a Noisia release (under their monicor Drifter) b/w a Matrix remix; both great tracks that made it into a lot of DJs crates. Koncept from Villains used to hold down at a couple of the NYC dnb weeklies and Philthy was another local LA dj under the name Tention.
